What specific occupation does your character practice?
The Lawyer battled with people about loan disputes, and would look at land signs and turn the land over to himself.
What does the need for this occupation tell us about the time period?
This tells us that they were the people to help fight cases in court for the wealthy. They were smart, good writer, and knew the laws. They were looked up upon by other, but they could also be stealing from people without them knowing.
What was his or her social standing?
The Lawyer is considered the upper middle class. the upper middle class are well-educated professionals with a graduate degree and comfortable incomes.
What might your character’s day to day life be like?
During this time period Lawyers were the ones who help fight cases for the wealthy. For example the Lawyer during this time period knew every judgement, case, and crimes ever recorded since king William's. The everyday life for a Lawyer today is normally a(n) 12 hour shift. They arrive at the office, go to meetings, check e-mails, go to court, review case and do other tasks threw out the day.

The social standing of the character, but other than that his simple life is described.
What modern day occupation might correspond to your medieval character and why?
He would be a captain or crew member on a ship today commanding the ship or serving the passengers. the killing and stealing part would be different today, and the hygiene would be vastly different today.

Chaucer's opinion towards this character was half and half. Even tho the lawyer was one to always help other in the court room and knew all the cases he had a down fall. The Chaucer stated that the lawyer would steel land from others. He would sign the land over to his name.
