CHECK IN TEAM
7:35-7:45 EACH MORNING
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Thanks so much for volunteering to be that positive influence for our students in need. Your job is to provide an encouraging start to the day, be an adult connection who cares, and to be an advocate for needs identified. The students you are assigned are identified as struggling in some capacity in his or her school life. Some have academic concerns, some with attendance issues, and others with behavioral habits that cause problems in school. Research has shown that one positive influence in a young persons life can impact a student dramatically. I know you will make a difference!
HOW DOES THIS WORK?
Students will be given an invitation to come directly to you in the morning after the first bell rings (7:35). Let's plan to begin on Monday, December 2, so I can meet with each student prior to starting. Your student(s) will report to you before going to the grade level hall for a check in moment. Each student will have a check in sheet that you will keep. This sheet will be our way of tracking impact of this intervention on each student's success. I provide you with a pre- survey to do with your student at your first meeting, then you will meet briefly each morning to provide a positive start to the day. Please use the check in sheet to document his/her attendance and any significant concerns or issues that need to be addressed. I will provide you with a small incentive each week to share with those students who make it to check every day. I will follow up with you weekly, to see if I need to get involved with anything identified. If you need my support sooner, please let me know by email or in person.
