Tiffin Elementary

Friday Note-9/20/19

Notes from Mrs. Stull

3/20/19:

Tiffin Elementary Families:

Last week, I mentioned how Tiffin Elementary practices PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports). This is a philosophy on how to teach behavior in a positive way. Although consequences still exist, we try to reward positive behavior whenever we can. Tiffin Elementary Students are doing a great job showing S.A.I.L (Safe, Appropriate, Involved Learner) behavior. One of the many ways we acknowledge good behavior is through our “Big Blue Ticket” program. Big Blue Tickets are earned when students go above and beyond the regular expectations. Big Blue Ticket award winners are announced over the intercom and a call home to parents is made. Approximately 30 students have received Big Blue Tickets so far this year. That means, I have been able to call 30 parents and deliver a positive message.

Don’t forget, North Park Road will be closed starting 6:00 PM on Friday, September 20. Please see the map below for the best route to access Tiffin Elementary.

Have a great weekend! (Go Clippers!!)

Park Road Closures!!! Started 9/20/19

Rathje Construction will be closing N. Park Road 9/20/19.

The Road closure will begin at 6:00PM on Friday, September 20th. This closure will be longer, lasting for approximately three weeks. This closure will remove the existing pavement on N. Park Road and install part of the circular section of the roundabout pavement as well as the entry and exit lanes on N. Park Road. All traffic to and from the schools will be routed on Croell Avenue, north to Oakdale Boulevard, then east to Park Road. Large message boards will be set up on September 13th to inform the passing public of this closure.

Both closures are subject to weather conditions. If weather delays the start of the closures, they will be postponed until the following weekend. Weather delays during the closures may cause the closures to be extended past the anticipated reopening dates. Please help inform everyone so we can minimize the confusion that these closures will cause.

Important Information

Birthday Rock:

Please help remind our students to NOT climb on our birthday rock. We would hate to have a student get injured.

Safetouch: On September 19th and 20th a representative from the St. Luke’s Child Protection Center will be presenting a program about “Safetouch” to the students in K-3rd grades. This program presents a positive approach to the prevention of child sexual abuse. A letter with more information about this program was sent home today with the students in these grades.

The BackPack Program: Weekend Food Program:

We participate in a program called Operation BackPack. This is a partnership between HACAP and all of the CCA Elementary Schools. The BackPack program provides a food pack of kid-friendly, non-perishable food for children on the weekends and during school breaks. This is a FREE program, without cost to families. It is also kept completely confidential – only the counselor and school nurse will be aware of participating families. If this would be helpful for you and your children, please contact Brandi Haight by phone at (319) 545-2081 or by email at brandihaight@ccaschools.org. There is a limited number of spots available, so it is important that you call or email to get your child’s name on the list.

Shoes That Fit:

Shoes That Fit is a program that is established to help provide shoes or boots to children in need. If your child is in need of shoes or winter boots, and this program would be helpful to you, please contact Brandi Haight at the school.
