MHS Homecoming 2021

Many thanks to Jennie Beliveau, MHS Adjustment Counselor and Student Government Advisor, Student Government, and the many parents who donated items and their time on Saturday for an amazing night for our Juniors and Seniors. Homecoming was a huge success and it was so great to see our students all dressed up and enjoying each other's company! A photo booth was set up outside for our students to have some fun as part of the evening...take a look!

Freshman Olympics

Last week, the Milton High School Student Leaders successfully held the annual Freshman Olympics! It was an exciting week filled with costumes, door decorating, lawn games, and a thrilling final showdown. Though all freshmen fought valiantly for the title, Mr. Midura's homeroom (Midora's Explorers) prevailed and claimed the gold medal. We are so glad that the freshmen were able to bond with one another and with the broader school community, and we plan to continue this tradition in the coming years.

Thank you to our Student Leaders for a fun week of team building, collaboration and competition for our Freshman class.

Here are some pictures from the week!

AP Exam Registration & Payments

All students enrolled in AP Classes need to complete two steps to Register and pay for their AP Exams in the Spring.

Step 1: Use the join code provided by your AP Teacher to join their AP Classroom. This ensures that a test will be ordered for you in the Spring. The deadline to join AP Classroom for each AP class is November 1st.

Step 2: Use UniBank to pay for your exams. Exam fees remain at $40/exam ($20/exam if on Free/Reduced Lunch), and the Milton Public Schools will pay the remainder. Select "AP Exam Fees" and follow the instructions to complete your payment. The payment window is open now through January 14, 2022.

Please note that failing to join AP Classroom can lead to late charges from the CollegeBoard to order your exam. This cost will be passed on to families.

Please contact Mr. Kelly (bkelly@miltonps.org) with any questions about Registration or Payment for AP Exams.

Proof of Vaccination

Having records of all vaccinated members of our community as well as understanding the number of students participating in the Optional Testing Program is essential.

In their most recent guidance, DESE announced an extension of the mask requirement through November 1, 2021 and more information about vaccination rates and mask wearing after November 1. You can read their full communication here.

If your student is fully vaccinated and you have not yet submitted proof of vaccination, we ask that you do so immediately!

  • Email or fax a copy (a photo is fine) to your school nurse (MHS Nurse Andrea deManbey at ademanbey@miltonps.org or Pierce Nurse Barbara Perry at bperry@miltonps.org)
  • Mail a copy to the nurses’ office.
  • Drop off a copy in the main office, Monday to Friday, during regular school hours.
  • If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out directly to our Director of Nursing, Kim Coughlin, at kacoughlin@miltonps.org or 617-696-4470 x5517.

Thank you for your cooperation, which will aid us in fully understanding the vaccination status of our population, especially with regard to the 80% threshold.

Monster Dash!

Be sure to register for The Monster Dash 5k, Fun Run & community event which falls on Halloween this year! Join us on Sunday, October 31, at Cunningham Hall. Register now!

The MFE has been organizing the Monster Dash for over 20 years. It is a beloved community event that memorializes Sam Cichello, a Tucker Student who died in a tragic playground accident. Sam loved science so the Monster Dash funds raised go toward science in all 6 Milton public schools. Save the date and start planning your costumes!

District-Wide Announcements

Thank you for your patience and understanding as the district dealt with the unpredictable conditions of the recent storm. Given the many challenges we faced and the subsequent school cancellation, Superintendent Jette thought it was important to send a reminder about how we approach inclement weather in the Milton Public Schools. His letter outlined 4 options we have when faced with weather that impacts the school day: a typical full day of school, a two hour delay, a remote half day and a full cancellation. Each of these options is outlined in detail in the letter and you can read it in full here.

If you did not receive an email and phone call from MPS about the school closure on Wednesday, please contact Sheila Rogers or Jenn McCullough to confirm that we have current contact information for you.

The William James INTERFACE Referral Service is a mental health resource and referral Helpline available Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm. It assists Milton residents and/or public school students to access outpatient mental health services. What makes INTERFACE unique is that we do not provide merely a list of providers, but rather matched referrals to mental health professionals and practices who best meet the caller’s needs, insurance or fee requirement, specialty request, location, and availability. The Helpline is staffed by mental health professionals, as well as graduate level students from William James College. For more information about INTERFACE, please visit their website.

You could choose a gift card to Common Market, Playa Bowls and/or a tote from the Toy Box. Every mile counts to recognize the 15,590 children diagnosed with cancer each year.
