Dear Parents / Carers,
It has been another busy week in school this week for both staff and pupils.
On Monday Mr Priory and Mrs Bembridge completed the first part of the Youth Mental Health First Aid course that is being run for Selby schools. This will help us to spot pupils who may be suffering with mental health issues earlier so that they can get the support they need.
On Tuesday Year 1 went on a learning walk around the village as part of their local geography topic. They enjoyed finding out about the human and physical features of the village and asked lots of interesting questions. Well done Year 1!
On Thursday, Years 5 and 6 took part in Anti-bullying workshops, completing a play in a day which they showcased to parents at the end of the day. They enjoyed taking part whilst also thinking about the consequences of bullying and what they can do if they think they or someone else is being bullied.
Finally, on Friday we had a sleep awareness workshop for parents in school aiming to support parents with things they could do to support pupils to have better sleep patterns and behaviours. This was a really useful workshop with lots of ideas shared.
Just a couple of notices this week:
- First, the Christmas Fair will be after school on Friday 9th December. We could really do with some volunteers to help run stalls or craft activities. If you are able to help for an hour or two, please let me know and I will pass your details onto the committee.
- Second, we have had a small number of cases of scarlet fever in school. This is a notifiable illness so please look out for a high temperature, red, raised rash and a white or pale tongue amongst other more common symptoms such as coughs and sore throats.
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Karen Williams
Head Teacher
