Initial Point

Quarterly News - Fall 2021 Edition

Letter From the Principal

Parents,

We had an amazing 1st quarter!

When we started this school year we had 49 new students, which is almost half of our total school enrollment. Our teachers and staff have been so impressed by our new students, and how well they have acclimated to Initial Point. Additionally, we are so proud of our veteran students for making the new people feel comfortable and welcomed.

As we finished this last week of the quarter there were a couple of students who only needed a few credits to finish all of their requirements for graduation. One of my favorite things we do at Initial Point is when a student finishes all of their high school requirements they ring a bell. The sound of that bell echoes through the halls of our school, you can hear applause and congratulations coming from each classroom as our whole community acknowledges the accomplishment. This ringing of the bell is a moment for all of us to celebrate together and remember the purpose of being here.

Congrats to Cesar, and Isaac! We are so proud of you, and can't wait until May when we can all celebrate all of our seniors at graduation.

Senior Parents

Thank you for taking time to meet and discuss your student's graduation and plans after high school. It is our goal that each graduate has a plan in place when they walk across that stage in May. During the month of November and December we will be providing some opportunities to help them in completing necessary steps and continue to explore options.

For students considering some type of college or trade program the FAFSA is now open. This is a critical step in helping your student know how much it will cost to attend college or trade school. Please contact me if you need more information on completing this. This is a step to complete now to assist in your planning. www.studentaid.gov is a great resource to answer questions and help you get started.

Resources/Holiday Support

Delta Dental will be onsite at Initial Point on November 16th from 8am - 2:30pm. This a FREE clinic to place dental sealants and fluoride varnish. Your insurance is not billed for this service. If you are interested there is a form to complete and return prior the event which can be picked from Becca in our front office.

For families in need of food resources or holiday support please let us know or contact Terri Reno, the Community Resource Coordinator. She can be reached at 208-472-9736.
