It's February, Greyhounds!

Message from the Superintendent
Greetings LCUSD 9 Family-
It is already February, and the school family is starting to feel spring fever and prepare for the future assessments. Even with the winter blues continuing on, we can find joy that Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow today, and spring is on it's way!! Hooray for SPRING and all that spring has to bring.
As your serving superintendent, I want to again share my gratitude for my staff and community. Working together as a team can make even the most difficult times manageable. I am very proud to continue working and serving LCUSD 9!
Happy February!
Dr. Ganey
💘 Community Update 💘
Unfortunately, it was confirmed that the Ginger Ale and Dollar Tree will not be coming to Lebanon due to drainage problems with the location. Parking lots can't be placed without proper drainage. The treasurer spoke on the possibility of getting a new town marquee and the proposal. Additionally, Lebanon print media was shared at the meeting. The hard work put into getting updated print to highlight our town should be appreciated. The prints looked wonderful! The meeting went well, and it is so nice to be able to sit with community members and hear the many great happenings in this great community!
💌 PLC's-Early Dismissal💌
PLCs are continuing to move forward. I have had the opportunity to sit in with the safety PLC to hear about their progress as a committee. Conversations continue to help make improvements for the safety and well-being for our students and staff! Our Math PLC finished up grade level classroom observations and discussed the benefits of implementing IXL in classrooms for students. IXL is a new program we chose to adopt with some of our School Improvement Grant funding to help with our continued efforts of closing our math achievement gap.
As stated previously, PLCs should move to small professional communities working together to make data informed decisions to improve the learning for all students. In addition to the leadership taking part in the PLC process, it is important to create a staff guiding coalition. Our guiding coalition has been created and will be attending a three day workshop in Mascoutah at the High School by Solution Tree to receive additional training for PLC implementation. This training will be June 18-20, and we are excited to see where our guiding coalition leaders take us next year!
😍😍😍Building Updates😍😍😍
We have been working since November on getting the needed paperwork for the Greenhouse project. Our paperwork is completed and sent to the Greenhouse company. Once we get our paperwork stamped, then the ROE will grant us a building permit along with the city, and we will wait for our greenhouse to arrive! We are very much looking forward to seeing this addition at our district.
The continuation of our HVAC mission in the LHS gymnasium continues! GRP has ordered the needed parts and materials, so we await for the project to be completed. We are thrilled to have air conditioning in the gymnasium by the 2024-2025 school year!
Mr. Reising and I have been working together to make sure our ten year survey has the updates that are needed. Together as a team, we are getting it all accomplished!
💝 Committee Updates💝
Our Finance Committee will be meeting next week to review a two year projection for all operating funds. This projection will include numbers in both our operating cash and ending fund balances for the two years. I will answer all questions regarding the projection.
The Building and Grounds Committee will be scheduling a meeting this month to review needs in the buildings, discuss the greenhouse project, and specifics to the HVAC installation in the LHS Gymnasium.
The Safety Committee will be meeting on February 15th at 4pm in the LHS Library to continue the safety PLC work and additional work completed for the district safety needs.
