As we close out this school year, we are also getting ready for the next! We are here to help you make sure your child is ready for a great start to the 2021-2022 year.
UPDATE
Proof of residency will be required for all students, new and returning. Schools will be coordinating with families on how to collect this and other information needed for the new school year.
Be sure to check the VDOE website at https://www.vdh.virginia.gov/immunization/requirements/ to ensure your child is current on immunization requirements, especially for new students, rising 7th graders, and some high school students. Changes were made recently. If you have questions about immunization requirements, contact the Department of Student Services at 515--5035 or contact your health care provider.
HERE’S YOUR REGISTRATION CHECKLIST FOR 2021-2022:
Online Registration Application (all students)
The link for Online Registration can be found under the “More” tab within the Infinite Campus Parent portal.
If you have questions about logging into Infinite Campus, contact your child’s school or call the LCS Help Desk at (434) 515-5090.
Birth Certificate (new students)
Physical (new students)
Immunization record (new students and some returning students--see VDH link above)
Verification of income (PreK)
Two proofs of residency* (all students)
*Proof of residency includes:
Current utility bill (gas, oil, electric, water, cable, landline)
Rent/mortgage agreement
Current rent receipts with address on receipt
Closing papers of home purchased
City registration of vehicle (The City of Lynchburg requires that vehicles be registered within 30 days of moving to Lynchburg)
HOW DO I PROVIDE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS TO MY CHILD’S SCHOOL?
There will be no division-wide Enrollment Day this year. LMS Enrollment Days will be the following when you will be able to provide proof of residency and other necessary documents:
July 14: 9am-noon
July 20, 22 & 28: 9am-3pm
July 29: 1pm-7pm

Summer School 2021
LCS Summer School 2021 will be held for current 6th-8th graders from June 15th-July 16th; 9:00am-2:00pm, Tuesday-Friday, at Heritage High School. This year’s program will prepare students for success in the coming school year with a focus on literacy and math with additional enrichment programs.
Summer School registration is NOW CLOSED. If you would like your child added to the waiting list, please call Mrs. Karen Bell at 515-5310

8th Grade Promotion Ceremony
8th Graders who did not pick up their promotion certificates and t-shirts, may stop by the LMS main office any Monday-Friday between 9am-2pm to get your awards and t-shirt.

Expert Recommended Resources to Help Teens and Young Adults Navigate Life's Challenges
COMMUNITY PROGRAMS and LINKS
4-H Camp - July 5-9, 2021, Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center, Appomattox, VA. This camping program helps youth build self-esteem, and challenges them to be innovative and creative. Campers have the opportunity to participate in exciting classes, with many options from canoeing, riflery, archery, swimming and crafts, just to name a few. There are also swim and recreational times, special evening events, songs, games and more!! The cost is $195 per child and applications are due by June 4th. Applications for camp (and scholarships) are available in the LMS Main Office.
VA Tech Talent Search - Talent Search is for students in sixth through 12th grade, the Talent Search program identifies students with potential and assists them in overcoming obstacles to pursuing higher education. Talent Search is committed to removing barriers to social and economic equality by supporting all participants in achieving their educational goals. Talent Search is currently doing a ‘push’ to increase their enrollment and will provide stipends ($$$) to students who participate in their program. They are asking that students sign-up by mid-May so they can be enrolled into some of the exciting summer programs they have planned.
Talent Search will provide participants with a variety of free educational, cultural, and social programs, such as:
Career exploration
Study skills and individual tutoring
Financial aid information and tips
ACT/SAT fee waivers and prep
Visits to college campuses
Help with completing college admissions and financial aid applications
Technology assistance
Workshops for families of participants
Who is eligible?
Talent Search works primarily with students who would be the first in their family to complete a college degree and are from low-income households, but we can provide services to any student needing help preparing for college.
VA Tech Talent Search Application
Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth - CTY is a nonprofit dedicated to identifying and developing the talents of academically advanced pre-college students around the world. Talent Search is the gateway to CTY. It's an advanced assessment that will help identify your child's strengths. Receiving a qualifying score can earn your student the opportunity to enroll in summer and online programs. Apply to CTY using the Talent Search application form if you want to test for eligibility. Summer Reading
LMS Athletics
Volleyball, Cross Country, Football, and Cheerleading will be starting soon!!! You must have a physical that is dated after May 1, 2021 to be eligible to participate. There is a NEW REVISED VHSL athletic physical form that you must use for the next school year. We have these forms here at Linkhorne in Mrs. Romanzak's office and also with Coach McCall and Coach Turille. We will also be putting the physical forms and other forms you will need to participate on the LMS website. You will also be able to find them on the EC Glass athletics website. Forms will include the athletic physical, concussion form, consent form, and emergency medical form.
