Be a Hero and Bring Your "A" Game, Mighty Owls!
Congratulations Mighty Owls Families! You will be glad to know that your child’s school, Olle Middle School, received a B Rating from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) for their students’ performance on the 2019 STAAR test. While the Mighty Owl Staff is extremely proud of the B Rating, they are not satisfied knowing that the ultimate goal is an A. The “Bring your A Game” phrase is an idiom used to reference doing your very best. To do so, our entire school community and business partners must play a vital role. So…thank you in advance for combining your A Game with ours.

Kids Get Connected with the After-school Program
“Children Interacting Afterschool- CIA"
“The beauty of “CIA” is that it directly aligns with our Mission Statement: Olle Middle School will prepare students for college and careers through social, emotional, and academic growth,” declared Principal Ms. Billescas. “I love that our Olle Owls have a built-in mentorship simply by being part of the CIA,” she exclaimed. “As principal of the school, I always look for ways to get our students connected to school. This program is amazing for parents interested in giving their child an opportunity to develop leadership and problem-solving skills. While CIA provides engaging activities that support student interests it also exposes students to career paths such as engineering, culinary arts, cosmetology, dance and athletics. Mr. Henderson’s CIA Team tracks academic student progress and gives our Owls a sense of belonging.”
Mr. Henderson’s CIA Team provides students with time to work on homework and skill building in all content programs prior to engaging in these amazing events. Students are afforded a warm snack, tutoring, and engaging activities to rotate through from Monday through Friday each week. Bus transportation is provided for students at 6:15 daily unless other accommodations are made by parents.
Accountability From August through the Last Day of School at Olle Middle School
Attendance: Olle Middle School’s daily attendance goal is 97% attendance. Ms. Anderson, Assistant Principal, and Ms. Ron, Attendance Clerk, have reviewed the Mighty Owl’s attendance data through March 2, 2020. Overall we have a 94.48% attendance rate. A Jean Pass Incentive was awarded periodically throughout the year to the grade-level group(s) for meeting the attendance rate challenge. If awarded, students would wear blue jeans without holes or tears, with a uniform shirt or Olle spirit shirt. 7th Grade ended the physical school year with 94.58% and 8th grade ended with 94.38%. Congratulations 7th Graders! Attendance matters all day everyday! School is still going on through the May 22, 2020. Please log in and complete all course work via Schoology! Learning is a treasure that will accompany you wherever you go in life. Get it!

Meet Ms. Mireya Medrano - Math Teacher

Meet Ms. Tara Polk - ESL Department Chair
"My name is Tara Polk and this is my 1st year at Olle Middle School and my 11th year in education! This year I will be serving the Olle Community as the ESL Department Chair! I come to you all from Alief Middle School where I taught Title I ELAR for five years, was an SPED ICS Teacher for a year and a half. For the past five summers I have taught ELD/Reading as a part of Summer Language Institute (SLI). During my time at Alief Middle, I was also the 2018 Teacher of the Year, served as the head cheerleading coach for 4 years, and served on a number of school committees.
I was born and raised in Houston, TX and I am no stranger to Alief ISD. I received my great education from Rees Elementary, Albright Middle, and Elsik High School where I graduated in 2006. In December of 2012, I graduated from the University of Houston (GO COOGS!) where I studied early childhood education and all level special education.
This year I will be supporting students and teachers alike to help narrow the achievement gap for our ELL's. Through the use of SIOP and PBL, it is my desire to encourage our ELL's to pursue their wildest dreams. I look forward to learning from the great teachers Olle has and hope to be a resource for those needing support. I am looking forward to a great school year!"

Meet Ms. Laura Ramirez - Gold Academy Counselor
"My name is Laura Ramirez… I started my teaching career in Alief ISD at Kennedy Elementary as a 2nd grade Bilingual teacher. I have also taught 3rd and 4th Bilingual, been an ESL specialist and a Language Arts Specialist. I worked in Houston ISD and Fort Bend ISD and am back home now in Alief ISD. I have always wanted to be a Counselor so I am truly working in my dream job!
I was born and raised in South Texas. I moved to Houston to attend UH and stayed. Fun fact- I enjoy running 5Ks, 10Ks and ½ marathons. I am scheduled to run two ½ marathons within the next 5 months. Running is my therapy!"

Meet Ms. Escot-Mendoza - ESL Teacher
"My name is Bella Escot-Mendoza. Many of my ESL students have a hard time pronouncing Escot, so I’m just Mrs. Mendoza. I am from ALIEF woot, woot! I am the first graduating class of AECHS. I actually graduated with Ms. Tiec! I worked for the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center before I decided to get certified to teach. Last school year, I was a long term sub and then SPED para for FBISD before making my way as a first year teacher at Olle!"
Meet Ms. Rexho- New Science Teacher
I used to work as a clinical research coordinator at the ophthalmology department at Mcgovern Medical School. My job role included seeing patients who qualified for research studies to better improve their vision and quality of life. I would conduct their eye exams, take their blood pressure, prepare any lab work, EKGS and assess data per the standards of the pharmaceutical companies that conducted these research studies. I am from Albania, born there and came to Houston when I was 4 years old. Fun fact: I can speak 4 languages: Albanian, Spanish, French, and German.
