Mr. Haynes met with the North High nominees for the Omaha World Herald All-Academic Team. We have seven students this year. To qualify, the students need to have a 32 or higher on the ACT.

OPPORTUNITY FOR JUNIORS! Haddix 24th Street STEM Corridor Program
All current Juniors are eligible to apply!
Objective: Engage rising high school seniors from North, South, and Central in summer research experiences with faculty at Creighton University to encourage their pursuit of STEM interests, degrees, and careers.
Details: 5 North High Students from the Class of 2019 will be selected. Students will receive a $3000 stipend for the 8 weeks of research that they will complete with Creighton faculty. Opportunity for scholarships will be presented at the completion of the program.

AP exam registration is open from February 1 through February 27. All dual enrolled students need to register for the exam for their dual enrolled course. Exam fees are included in the tuition costs for those that are dual enrolled, and those that qualify for free or reduced lunch will receive a reduced rate. Applications are open for YNS High School Science Camps throughout the state in 2018!
- CyberCamp, June 6-9 at the University of Nebraska at Kearney
- Life Underground: the Unseen Power of Microbes, June 17-20 at UNL
- Biodiversity Field Science, June 24-30 at UNL Cedar Point Biological Station (Lake McConaughy)
For the past 10 years, each summer more than 100 youths attend YNS camps, which include hands-on science experiences and recreation opportunities at college campuses throughout Nebraska. Community Counseling Program Aids Students
Methodist Hospital Community Counseling Program provides mental health services to students. Confidential counseling is provided by an experienced, licensed, master’s-level mental health practitioner in office space provided by Omaha North High Magnet School. Acceptable forms of payment include Medicaid, private insurance or self-pay. Foundation and payment plans are available. No one will be denied services due to inability to pay.
The Methodist Hospital Community Counselor at Omaha North High Magnet School is Roxanne Wayne. Roxanne has been working with youth and families in the mental health field, for over 15 years. She works with youth and adults in many areas such as anxiety, depression, developing healthy coping skills, resolving family issues, grief and loss, anger and stress management.
