Chapter Excellence Program
Start your CEP application today and begin to earn recognition for your chapter! The online application is located on the main page of the membership registration site. Logon to the site at http://www.skillsusa-register.org/Login.aspx to get started! Questions? Everything you needed to know about implementing the Chapter Excellence Program (CEP) can be found here - http://skillsusa.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/CEP-Teachers-Guide.pdf. The CEP honors chapter achievement relative to SkillsUSA’s framework of developing personal, workplace and technical skills. The CEP establishes a quality baseline that all chapters are encouraged to attain with extra incentive for exemplary chapter performance. The program consists of four award levels, with the first three levels recognized by the state and the final level eligible for national recognition.

Fundraising Ideas
Fundraising is a key part of the SkillsUSA program of work. Without funds, it is hard to conduct most activities. In addition to helping to finance the local chapter, a fundraising activity can also provide many valuable learning experiences for students. From project management to forecasting profits, setting timelines, working in teams and being accountable for results, fundraising teaches many skills that will be needed on the job and in life. Check out these fundraising ideas from local chapters: skillsusa.org/membership-resources/chapters/chapter-fundraising/fundraising-ideas/
Help for teachers in accessing their CRC Pin Code
SkillsUSA professional members have been enjoying the benefits of membership by logging into the CRC and exploring the 29 turnkey lesson plans. Numerous advisors though have discovered that they did not place their email address into their membership details record or entered an incorrect email address. Without their email address in the membership record, they will not receive a CRC pin code. In a few simple steps, advisors can update their membership record with their email address and receive their pin code. See below for complete details.
Getting Your CRC Access
Forgot to provide an email address on your Professional Membership and now you can’t access the awesome Career Readiness Curriculum content? Here’s how you can fix it yourself, in 2 minutes or less:
1. Login to the Membership & Conference Registration Site here: http://www.skillsusa-register.org/Login.aspx
2. Click the Membership icon (or use the Membership
Add/Edit Members menu)
3. Locate the Training Program (for example Carpentry or
Cosmetology) your Professional Membership was
joined under, then click the Members link for that row:
4. Find your name in the list of Members, and click the
“Edit” link for that row. Since you have probably
already JOINED your membership for this year, you’ll see a warning
message like this, warning that you cannot change the member’s
name (but you CAN change or enter an email address).
5. Type in your valid email address in the Email field at the top right,
then click Save.
6. Now navigate to the CRC Login page here: http://www.skillsusa-register.org/crc/crcLogin.aspx
7. Enter that same email address on this login page, then click the “Email My PIN” button.
8. Wait a few moments then go check your email (be sure to check the Junk Mail folder too).
Your PIN code to access the CRC content should have arrived!
Something still not working?
Two common things could still prevent you from getting the CRC PIN:
If your Training Program has not actually been JOINED yet, then you are not an official SkillsUSA Professional Member yet this year, and your PIN will not be sent. Check the Membership area to make sure your members have all been submitted – if not, just JOIN them and you’ll get the email immediately.
Your SPAM filters could be blocking the automated email, which should come from info@skillsusa-register.org . Be sure to check your Junk Mail folder in your email client, and try adding this email address to your list of “trusted senders”.

2015 Lowe’s Community Service and Campus Improvement Grant Guidelines
Lowe’s continues a sixth year of generosity with another round of SkillsUSA grants in 2015. Grant information and the application are now available on the SkillsUSA website at http://skillsusa.org/membership-resources/grants/lowes/. The guidelines and focus of the grant program is changed slightly from years past.
The focus of the 2015 SkillsUSA Lowe’s grant program will be Community Service and Campus Improvement projects. Grants will be awarded ranging from $2,500 to $25,000. Only one application per school will be accepted; 2014 Schools in Need grant winners are not eligible in 2015.
Through the written application and letters of support, the applicant must clearly outline the proposed project, projected impact and outcomes, and provide a detailed budget and media plan. In addition, Lowe’s is looking to engage SkillsUSA students and teachers with their local Lowe’s staff. Developing a relationship between the SkillsUSA chapter or technical school and one or more local Lowe’s stores is another key component of the grant selection process. Your best contacts at a Lowe’s store are the store manager, the operations manager and the commercial sales specialist. There are some local Lowe’s stores that may be unaware of this grant opportunity for schools. If, after several attempts, you continue to have trouble connecting with someone from Lowe’s, don’t hesitate to contact us at LowesGrants@skillsusa.org. Every effort will be made to assist your chapter or school in making this contact.
The best proposed projects will detail the partnership with the local Lowe’s as well as show how the outcome will provide a life changing experience for the SkillsUSA students involved and the beneficiaries of the grant dollars. Those applicants who can outline their project by planning and implementing a project or event that will allow them to use the tools or skills obtained due to receiving the grant dollars will stand a greater chance of receiving funding.
Grant applications are due by December 15, 2014. Late applications will not be accepted. Please review the grant guidelines to be sure that applications are properly completed and submitted.
