Currently, I’m a stay-at-home parent but my career paths have included being an educator, a human resources manager, and a flight attendant. | PTA Vice President - Tiffany Johnson I am married to a wonderful and supportive husband of 15 years and we have 2 handsome, baseball-loving boys. One is an eighth-grader and one is a kindergartner. My family has lived in Silk Hope for eight years and my husband and I have lived in Chatham County since birth. I have been an educator of Chatham County Schools for the past 16 years and NC for 20 years. I am so looking forward to supporting a wonderful school and community. | PTA Secretary - Paula Payne I have been a Chatham County Schools employee for the past 20 years at Siler City Elementary. The Silk Hope Elementary School PTA provides parents, teachers, and members of our community the opportunity to unite to improve our children's lives at school and in our community.
Goal
The goal of the PTA and the PTA Advisory Board is to align our fundraising and spending with the academic goals identified by the School Improvement Team. This committee identifies many unmet financial needs of our school. Some examples of these include books, classroom supplies, teacher workshops, art and music supplies, athletic uniforms and equipment, field trips, various club needs, and playground equipment and maintenance to the school.
Membership
$10 Single membership
$20 Family membership with $5 concession punch card
Being a member gives you voting privileges and gives you the right to make suggestions. A portion of the money goes to Silk Hope School PTA and the remainder is sent to the National and State PTA.
We Need PTA Advisory Board Representatives For Next Year
Each homeroom class has a parent representative who is a member of the PTA Advisory Board (parent PTA representatives must be paid PTA members). The PTA Advisory Board meets once a month in the evening. They make decisions about fundraising and decide what budget requests go to the full PTA meeting for a vote. The Advisory Board cannot approve any spending over $1000.00 without taking it to the General PTA for a vote.
If you are interested in being an Advisory Board representative, talk with your child's teacher. We need you!

Coffee & Conversation with the Ps
Please join Mrs. Brady-Andrew, SHS Principal, and Mrs. Leysath, PTA President, for our virtual coffee and conversations on March 29. Our goal is to facilitate connections and conversations that will help us work together to support SHS students. There will be a topic each quarter that we hope will help our students thrive at home, at school, and in our community. In addition, we want to hear from you. Use this form to submit any topics you would like to learn more about and any questions you have (please submit by March 15). We will look for patterns and similarities from the requests we receive when choosing a topic for Coffee and Conversations. It is our hope that we can continue to strengthen the strong home/school relationship that has been a pillar at Silk Hope School for generations.
Our first topic will be announced prior to March 29 but go ahead and mark your calendar. You’ll want to grab your cup of coffee, or a bottle of water if you prefer, and join us as we work together to support the children of Silk Hope School. We look forward to chatting with you.
