Martin Luther King Jr. Special Edition
Your Presence Matters!
"The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the LORD has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD... And they shall rebuild the old ruins, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the ruined cities, the desolations of many generations." Isaiah 61:1, 2, 4, NKJV
"But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light. Therefore He says: 'Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light.' See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time,
because the days are evil." Ephesians 5:13-16, NKJV
We have some old ruins that need to be rebuilt here in our Region. We have some ruined cities with generations of desolations. It's time to say, "We Shall!" We shall no longer be blind to the pain of our hurting brothers and sisters. We shall no longer think it's their problem and they just need to _______. We shall no longer act as though God has designed a separate Body of Christ for each ethnic group and sect of Christ followers.
The past couple of years the Lord has shined His light, dredging to the surface pain that has reached national attention. We are commanded to walk circumspectly - in careful consideration of all circumstances and with a desire to avoid mistakes and bad consequences. The NLT says, "Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days."
The Martin Luther King Celebration Events this weekend are outstanding opportunities to make a difference! How? Through faith and action in the power of prayer and personal contact! Why do missionaries go to the people they seek to reach rather than just pray from the comfort of their own home and family? Because we have been commanded to "GO"! There is something powerful that happens when we pray on location. There is something greater that occurs when we take time to let the love of Christ compel us to love others and to do all in love. There is something that happens when we enter into community. This is how it works in the Kingdom of God, which we are to usher in to every circumstance. Does this racial disparity and pain in Sacramento need God's supernatural work? Yes! Then let our response be, "Here Am I! Send ME!"
