Simmons Elementary School
February 24, 2021
During last week's snowstorm, we celebrated the 100th day of the 2020-21 school year! Primary grade teachers celebrated virtually with their class using a variety of mathematical activities. Some classes dressed up as 100 year old people. Enjoy the photos below to see how quickly the children are growing!
A reminder: For students in grades 2 through 5 in hybrid learning, we will begin alternating cohorts on Mondays for in-person learning on March 8th. Cohort B will come in on Monday, March 8th. Then the cohorts will alternate in-person learning each week.
For first grade families, 5 days per week of in person learning begins on Monday, March 8th.

March Madness
Over the next few weeks, every class at Simmons Elementary School will read aloud the Sweet 16 books pictured above. Classes will select their favorite between two titles, with the winners advancing to the “ELITE 8”. Over the remaining weeks in March, we will continue to vote for the final 4, then the finalists, and then our “CHAMPION”. The winning picture book will be announced on March 30. Students can view the tournament bracket near the gym to see which books advance in each round.
Thank you to our librarian and literacy specialists for organizing this special all-school event!
