FAQ
Q. How much money should I send or put on the EWallet?
A. The Scholastic EWallet will suggest $30, but families can put any amount that fits their budget.
Q. What happens to the money left on the EWallet?
A. We try to help students spend all of the money on their EWallets. However, if any is left, they can use it for future book fairs or the online Scholastic store.
Q. Do we have to pay tax on our items?
A. Yes, we have to charge tax. You can plan on approximately a dime for each dollar spent.
Q. Can I volunteer to help at the book fair?
A. Yes, just click on this link: Book Fair Volunteers
Q. Is there a website for the Book Fair?
A. Yes! Sunflower Book Fair
Q. Will there be Teacher Wishlists?
A. Instead of wishlists, families may contribute to the teacher's EWallet. Teachers will purchase books for their classrooms. Students that contribute to the EWallet will sign a label for inside the new book.
Q. Why is lunch time EWallet only?
A. Due to time constraints, EWallet allows us to quickly check students out so they don't miss important class time.
Halloween Happenings!
Hoot & Howl
Hoot & Howl: Introduction of Staff Costumes & Festive Student Presentations
All students are invited to find a Halloween or Fall poem or song for sharing at this big event. You may share individually or with a small group of your friends.
Students are encouraged to dress up and/or use props to bring a poem or song to life. These poems and songs must be memorized as you will present them in front of the student body.
Any student choosing to participate must bring a copy of their poem/song to Mrs. Wokutch and have it approved prior to sharing. If you want to join the spooktacular fun, find a poem/song and turn it in to Mrs. Wokutch by Wednesday, October 25th. Be sure to include your name and the names in your group if doing a group presentation. You will receive a confirmation from Mrs. Wokutch that your poem has been approved.
Halloween Costumes-Students will still be able to wear their costumes at school with the following guidelines:
- Students choosing to dress up may wear their costume to school. Students will not be able to change into their costumes during the day so it should be something they are comfortable wearing all day. As always, costumes should be school appropriate without reference to blood, guts, gore, and/or guns.
- Face paint and costume masks are discouraged for all students.
Sunflower Pumpkin Patch-Family Project
The theme for the pumpkin patch this year is GAME ON!
As a family, decorate a game themed pumpkin to be on display at Sunflower Elementary. Think about board games, game pieces, etc... be creative!
Use any kid-friendly material (paint, cloth, paper, etc) to decorate your pumpkin.
Please, no carved pumpkins.
Prizes will be awarded to the top Game ON! pumpkins. There will be lots of fun and unique categories.
Pumpkins may be brought to school October 16-27. Judging will be October 31st. Winners will be announced October 30th. Pumpkins will go home with students on October 31 after the classroom parties.
Halloween Parade & Parties
Halloween Parties-Halloween parties will be held after the Cottonwood Sunflower Parade. Each classroom teacher will send out information with their classroom specifics.
Halloween Parade-We are excited to announce that we will be having our annual Halloween Parade with Cottonwood this year. Students will walk a large loop beginning in the bus loop of each building. Students will walk along both sides of 303rd entering the bus loop of the other school and circling back to their own school. See the map below.
Families are invited to attend the parade. You will be able to see both schools from any of the viewing locations on the map. Please abide by the following guidelines:
- Parents may park in any of the school parking lots (CW, SES, PMS, or PHS) and walk to a viewing area.
