Message From The Principal
Hi!
Here are a few items for this long weekend.
1st: I'd like to honor those who have served our nation! Thank you for your service! Thanks are greatly due to our servicemen and women who have worked so hard to protect our country. HAPPY VETERANS DAY!
2nd: Last week I was really emphasizing the opportunity that students have to catch up (if they’re behind) as we head into the home stretch of this first semester! Talking with teachers and making a plan to pass all classes will be super important in the final weeks of Semester #1!
The flip side of working hard to earn credits is the obvious point that being at school everyday is directly related to catching up on (and staying on top of) all the school work!
There’s an old saying that “80% of success in life involves ‘just showing up’”…and although there TRULY IS A LOT MORE INVOLVED in being successful than just being physically present, being physically present at school everyday IS A REALLY GOOD START!! If attendance is a problem with your child then it will be more difficult for her/him to earn credits that are necessary for graduation on June 9, 2023! Start today by checking attendance and grades in Infinite Campus for your student. If attendance is low then credits and graduation may be in jeopardy. Have a conversation with your student about how she/he can improve attendance. Improved attendance generally means EARNING MORE CREDITS, which generally leads to A GREATER CHANCE OF GRADUATION!
Once again, whatever credits your student can earn IN THIS FIRST SEMESTER, the better the chance of putting together enough credits in SECOND SEMESTER to qualify for graduation in June. We have about 4 school weeks left in semester #1, and in most cases STUDENTS CAN STILL PASS MOST OF THEIR CLASSES if they attend class, talk with their teachers and work their plan!

3rd: We have a “Community Advisory Partners” (CAP) meeting this coming Tuesday (November 15) at 3:15 pm. We’re inviting any interested parents to this meeting to give input on how to spend some additional funds that we’ve been allocated! If you have about 30 minutes we’d love to talk with you and get your input!!!

Teenage years are a critical time when guys and girls make choices that affect the rest of their lives. The empowerment groups provide a safe place where teens can talk about what is really going on in their lives, and a community of mentors and peers who listen, believe in them and help them make better choices. This approach gives teens permission to tell the truth about the challenges all teens face, make their own decisions on how to deal with those challenges, and begin to take responsibility for their choices and the consequences of their actions. It also provided tools needed to navigate through the teen years and transition positively into adulthood.
