Welcome GBR Visitors

Although the mask mandate has ended, the protocol on visitors to GBR has not changed. We are still asking that you bring your learners to the building as close to the start of the day as you can when possible. At this time visitors cannot enter the building without an appointment. We also ask that you continue to drop your learners off at the front doors when they arrive at school and not walk them into the building. We hope to welcome all visitors to our building soon!

Just a reminder that our water fountains remain CLOSED for drinking. The water bottle filling station is open for students to fill their water bottles. Parents, PLEASE make sure your student brings a water bottle from home to use as they do get thirsty throughout the day - especially after PE and / or recess. Please make sure their names are on the water bottle.

The school has very few water bottles to give the kids.

Students Council Challenges All Classes to a Penny War!

Our GBR Student Council sponsored a Penny War the week of November 8th. All classes participated by bringing pennies and/or bills to place in their class tub. The more $$ and pennies = the more points their class earned. Any student who brought silver coins could put these coins into another classroom and place them into that classroom's bucket. These were counted as negative points! You didn't want silver cons in your classroom's tub. Hence, PENNY WARS!

All of the money that was collected, which amounted to over $1800.00 was donated to our local VFW - Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Hats off students on a 'WAR' well done!

Thank You From the Library

Thank you to everyone who sent in pictures for our Veterans display in the library. The display turned out awesome. A big shout out to Ben Sevigny who loaned us different uniforms, and a helmet to display. He also donated patches, hats and t-shirts that I was able to give away to students whose names were drawn for good behavior. Students were so proud to show off their family members pictures and tell stories about them. For December a few of my classes will be reading Christmas Jars. We will create our own Christmas jars to display in the library and donate our earnings to worthy recipients in or around Mitchell.

Cold Weather Season is Upon Us

Although Mother Nature treated us to some warm November days, cold weather season is definitely upon us. Please do not allow your learners to wear shorts to school until the spring. Please do send your learners with appropriate cold-weather gear. Students will go outside for recess unless the "Feels Like" temperature is below 0.

If you are in need of cold-weather gear (boots, coats, hats, etc.) please contact Mr. Gubbrud or Mrs. Kapfer in the GBR office or

GBR Food Drive

Our GBR School Climate Committee recently held a food drive and made it a contest between the classrooms. The classroom with the most food items brought in won a Culver's concrete mixer party. The items were then taken and donated to the Mitchell Food Pantry. Mrs. Budahl's first grade classroom was the winner of the contest with bringing in 110 items for donation. The class really enjoyed their ice cream party!

December Lunch Menu

It is unbelievable how our Lost and Found is OVERFLOWING! If your child is missing any type of clothing item please have them check the Lost and Found room / or table that will be set up in the commons. Any items that are still here come Christmas break - December 22nd - will be donated.
