NOCK NOTES
JUNE NEWSLETTER
Greetings Nock Community:
With just over two weeks of school left, you can imagine the excitement and the energy in the school on a daily basis. Staff continues to plan thoughtful and engaging lessons and also sprinkling in, many end of the year traditions for our students. We have had quite the busy spring both in and out of the classrom.
As usual, our students have remained active in the community. Our 7th graders, this past Friday, participated in our annual flag planting tradition honoring many of our local fallen heroes. Many of our artists and musicians showcased their talents at the Annual Waterfront Festival. And many of our student athletes participated in the CAL divisional meet and will participate in the State meet next week. This was all going on as we are finishing up skills based units, I Am We Projects, Algebra Placement and of course, MCAS testing.
I wanted to highlight and acknowledge the Nock Faculty and Staff for their continued commitment to our students and being able to wear many different hats on a daily basis.
Looking ahead, we have several Middle School celebrations including 8th Grade Books Awards, Class Day, and many fun trips for all of our students.
Communication is essential and we strive to connect to our students, parents and families, and community each and every day. We will continue reaching out to you throughout the summer as we prep for the fall. We will be scheduling tours for all our incoming students throughout the summer. We will also be scheduling a locker setup day in late August to ease the transition for students. We will be sending out firm dates the first week of July for tours, locker set up and 1st Day of School Supplies pickup.
As always, we wish to express our sincere gratitude toward our entire school community. We would not be the amazing school that we are without the help and support of all of you. Thank you and may you have a safe, healthy, and happy Summer!
Respectfully,
Nicholas Markos
Principal
Summer Reading Challenge
The Nock has NO required books this year, instead we will be keeping track of how much time we spend reading. Choose books that are thrilling, funny, dramatic, or deep. Try new authors, read with a friend, read at the beach, or with a flashlight under the stars. Whatever you do, READ! Then choose something you read and create a book spine to add to our all-school bookshelf display! For more information please click on the link below-

2022-2023 PLACEMENT & SCHEDULING
Scheduling and placement is an extremely important process as it involves input from many. Please know that we put a great deal of time and thought into creating learning communities so our students can thrive. Many factors are taken into consideration when creating each advisory, each mini-group, and each class assignment. Among these are a student’s learning style, academic and social/emotional strengths and needs, relationships with peers, and past experiences. In order to maximize learning for all students, we aim to form classes that are balanced in terms of size, gender, academic needs, and social dynamics. We recognize that some students may do well together in the same classroom setting, while others may be better served if separated. In order to support the needs of all students, requests for specific teachers will not be honored. Additionally, please do not send requests to place your child with particular friends, as all students will be placed in their new classes with familiar peers. Your support is requested to ensure a fair and equitable placement process for all our students. Team placement and homeroom assignments and information on how to access your child’s assignment will be sent on August 19th.
