MATH: 3-D shapes and their attributes
SOCIAL STUDIES: cultures and celebrations
WRITER'S WORKSHOP: revising and editing our descriptive writings
SNEAK PEEK:
How can having "hairy toes" help us with our spelling pattern this week? As we study the pattern -ight, think of it as an acronym for "I've Got Hairy Toes" to help you spell -ight words!
I love a good Schoolhouse Rocks video! Watch this one that focuses on adjectives to help remember how we can use descriptive words to make our writing even better!
Even though this is a video aimed at teachers, this guy really does a good job at engaging the viewer and I think our kids will enjoy it! Great rhymes for helping us connect the attributes of 3-D shapes to their names!
PARENT PARTNERSHIP:
As you are reading with your learner at home, help them pay close attention to words that are unfamiliar to them. Remind your reader to use context clues to help determine the meaning of the word. The same can also go for words that can have more than one meaning. Use clues to figure out which meaning applies to the text.
We have been studying our family heritage, culture, and traditions along with the traditions of other cultures throughout the world. If you're looking for a new family tradition to try, you might consider this super cute "Kindness Elf" one. Just thought we'd pass and idea along to help teach our kiddos to pay things forward. :)
