Lion King 2018 Volume 2
*PLEASE READ ENTIRE NEWSLETTER*
Happy Sunday!
Last week we started on learning the music for Lion King. All I can say is WOW! These kids are making this music look easy!!!!! They are so very talented! The absolute BEST at OMS!!
Lion King is going to be by far the most technically difficult musical we have tackled thus far; however, we have a group of SERIOUSLY talented young people. I know without a doubt they will knock it out of the park!
MARK YOUR CALENDARS NOW for our Theater Parent Meeting TOMORROW @ 6pm
I am sorry that I had to cancel tomorrow's rehearsal; since we will only have 1 faculty meeting per quarter, Mrs. Ruis expects us to attend.
Next Monday we will take scene 1 to the stage and block that one out! This is the most moving scene of the entire musical, in my opinion, and I cannot wait to see what they can do!!
****NEW***** Remind App
I built a new Remind Group. There were so many people in the other group and I wanted to make sure I have everyone on the list. Remind is the way I communicate. I require at least one parent and the student (if they have a phone) to be on Remind.

If you do not join THIS Remind you will not receive any messages.
I also have a Twitter feed @oms_drama and an Instagram feed @oms_drama.
We also have a Facebook group. CLICK HERE to join the FB group.
Junior Theater Festival
The past two years, our musical theater students traveled to Atlanta, GA to participate in the ITheactrics Junior Theater Festival. We saw so many great performances and met so many wonderful new friends......we even got a lesson in Disney musicals from Mr. Paul Williams, the composer of Kermit the Frog's song "Rainbow Connection"
Our kids did and AWESOME job on their 15 minute adjudication number and we won the Excellence in Ensemble award!!! I LOVE that we have a trophy in the school's trophy case.
We will travel back again this year and will compete with Disney's The Lion King Jr. I am so excited.
The cost of this trip is $625. This includes travel, hotel, festival registration, and some meals.
We will have a couple of fundraisers to help each student pay for their trip. We also have a great sponsor program. I have had several students pay for 100% of their trip through sponsors. Most companies set aside money for this sort of advertisements.
