County Central June Hawk Talk
'Home of the Hawks'
Principal's Point
Dear Parents & Guardians,
As we prepare to wrap up another school year, I would like to share a few information items with you. Firstly, we have changed the process for our end-of-year assessments. We will not be holding final exams in the traditional sense; rather, teachers will be assessing students using final projects, summative assignments, or low-stakes tests. The purpose behind this change is to reduce some of the stress our students are feeling and to take away the pressure of having high-stakes final exams.
The change to our final assessments means that there is no need for an exam week; all final assessments will be completed during class time. As such, our last day of classes will be June 22nd, 2021. Students are not required to attend school after June 22nd unless their presence is requested by a teacher, and there will be no exams after June 22nd. June 23rd-25th will be days for staff to mark final assessments, prepare final grades, check in with students, and offer alternative assignments or catch-up work for students who are behind. Final marks will be available on June 29th.
We will be sharing details about school start-up at the beginning of August. In preparation for the new school year I would ask that you keep the following dates for our return to classes in mind:
September 1st Grade 7 and 10 students only
September 2nd Grade 8 and 11 students only
September 3rd Grade 9 and 12 students only
September 7th All students
Please contact the school if you have any questions or concerns. I hope you all have a safe and restful summer break!

End-Of-Year Reminders
- All textbooks must be returned to the Learning Commons by the end of the day on June 22nd. Students are responsible for the cost of replacing any lost or damaged textbooks.
- All lockers should be cleaned out no later than June 22nd. PE lockers must also be cleared out and student belongings taken home.
Thank you so much for your help with this :)

Hawks Nest
The nutrition program is still available to provide free items to students such as sandwiches, go-gurt, cheese strings, fruit, juice boxes, and other healthy items. These items are available to all students, whether they forgot their lunch, don't have a lunch, or just need an extra snack.
Some items are also available for purchase until the end of the school year but there are no hot lunches.
The Hawk's Nest will be closed as of Monday, June 21st. We appreciate all of your support and look forward to serving you again next year!
Fashion Infractions
"Students and staff are expected to dress in a “business appropriate” manner. This means that all clothing should be both clean and modest. The following guidelines will assist students, teachers, and parents/guardians:
Clean means:
• The clothing is free from all references to drugs or alcohol, violence, sexism, and racism.
• Clothing or accessories that could be classified as a potential weapon are not permitted (i.e. chains, spiked necklaces/bracelets, etc.).
• Clothing that is not overly restrictive and allows for safe movement.
Modest means:
• Clothes are not overly revealing.
• Undergarments are not visible.
Please consider the school context when choosing what you wear. Our suggestion is to consider the school as your place of work and ask yourself if your clothing is appropriate. We recognize that deciding on one’s dress is a subjective and personal decision; however, CCHS’ goal is to support the emotional well-being of all students and as such we ask students and parents/guardians to make informed and thoughtful choices when deciding what to wear. In some circumstances the school may contact parents/guardians regarding the attire of their child in order to aid in making decisions about its appropriateness. Please note that students may wear caps, hats, or other head coverings unless otherwise requested by staff."
We appreciate your cooperation with this policy and encourage students to dress for the weather, but to also remember that this is a place of business.
School Cash- Changes to myWallet
We have developed a phased retirement of myWallet to accommodate parents that currently have funds in their account. Effective June 7, 2021, SchoolCash Online will no longer support adding funds into myWallet. Parents currently using myWallet accounts will be given until October 31, 2021 to use their remaining balances. After November 1, 2021, all parents with remaining balances will be refunded. We anticipate completing all refund activities before December 10, 2021.
Parents will receive a notification when processing payments through their myWallet account that communicates its retirement and the options available to them.
