Global Citizen
What Does it mean to be a Global Citizen
What does it take?
To be a Global Citizen you have to be forgiving of others despite how ignorant and close minded they are, you have to learn to accept people for who they are and, be understanding of one others lives and culture without making predetermined judgments based on how they look or what religion they follow.
1984 vs Today
The only way to separate ourselves from the society in 1984 has been show. We have to stand up for our rights. We have the to fight for self awareness in our government and fight for what we believe in. Otherwise we will simply fall into chaos.
Set Preconceptions
There are so many ignorant people out there with these stereotypes set into stone. That all Muslims are terrorists, or that any person of color is in a gang or is immediately a criminal in the eyes of the system. When in fact you are judging approximately 1/7 of they worlds population when 99.6% of them have done nothing wrong. When you become a global citizen you have to be able to accept anothers religous views.
How to help even when your across the globe
You can not stand by and watch as injustice occurs. You have to spread and educate people on the current events of this world. Even if your not all the way in Brazil as people are removed from their homes, you can still raise awareness about these events and that is everything.
Acceptance
The most essential part of being a global citizen. You have to accept others for who they are, whether they are of a certain religion, fit into a certain category made by society, or if they are disabled or mentally unwell. You have both accept both others and yourself. We are each different and each our own and we need to break down these barriers between ourselves.
What can you do?
To help you on your way to being a global citizen here are some tools. In today's world of worry and fear if your a minority group it can be a very threatening place. Just recently people on twitter set a trend with #illridewithyou so that the Muslim people that use public transportation know that they have an ally. You can go so far as going to a protest to stand up for either your rights or for somebody elses. You have one of the most important roles as a global citizen. You inspire a movement of people together to defend each other.
