Notice of Public Hearing
Notice of Public Hearing:
Pike Road Schools is requesting a waiver from the Alabama State Department of Education. Click here to see this proposed Innovation Waiver, which is located Pike Road Schools’ website.
The purpose of this waiver is to use Scantron Global Scholar in place of ACT Aspire to accomplish the following:
Eliminate the redundancy of assessments that render the same student achievement results (i.e. reduce the redundancy of two spring assessments);
Provide more timely and in-depth results and information to teachers, parents and students;
Increase instructional time for both learners and lead learners by eliminating redundancy of testing; and
Improve student learning.
We will be holding a Public Hearing on Tuesday, November 15 at 5:30 at Pike Road School in the C3 Project Room. This will be a time for questions, answers and input. We will also be updating parents at the PTSA General Meeting immediately following the Public Hearing on Tuesday, November 15 at 6:00 p.m. at Pike Road School. If you are not able either meeting, you are welcome to submit comments and questions to info@pikeroadschools.org. We value our partnership with our parents.

Interested In Art?
It’s that time of year again! The Reflections Art Contest is back. This year’s theme “What is your Story?” All students-preschool through 9th grade are encouraged to submit art work in any of the following six categories: dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography, and visual arts. Reflections recognizes students at the Local, Council/Region, State and National levels.
At each level, all entries are judged on interpretation of the theme, creativity and artistic merit. Students may enter any or all of the six art categories. Multiple entries within a single arts category is permitted. Each entry must be the original work of one student and created specifically for the Reflections program based on the national theme. Each entry must also conform to the guidelines developed by the National PTA. Please visit the Alabama PTA website http://www.alabamapta.org/reflections for more information and for General Entry Forms and Guidelines 2016 - 2017. Deadline this year will be November 30th for Pike Road School. Please turn in all entries to the school office. The link below is the promotional video for this year’s event.
