Dave Wells
Singer Songwriter
Biography
From the dizzy heights of the Great Divide to the very edge of the Eastern Seaboard, the strident guitar and haunting vocals of ‘Carrington Street’. The independent solo release from singer songwriter Dave Wells, finds us meandering effortlessly through small rural towns, big cities and out to a vast ocean beyond. Evoking a powerful sense of loss, remorse and foreboding, Dave’s songs draw heavily on influences inspired by some of our early Australian folk rock musicians, harnessing the spirit of a pioneering balladry rarely heard these days. His deliberate use of sparse instrumentation and yearning melody lines cleverly propels the listener into a world of wide open spaces, dust and jacaranda trees. Over the past fifteen years Dave has endured to develop a unique song writing style. Accompanied by his personal and distinctive voice, he embraces every performance by expressing his thoughts, tales and memories, utilising his diverse sound as an emotional connector with the audience. As a performer, Dave has shared the stage with various artists such as, Steve Smyth, The Middle East, Bertie Blackman, The Sea Bellies and The Screaming Jets. As a songwriter Dave is forever experimenting with the creative elements of music, working with various producers and musicians to form a strong creative path both on the stage and into the studio environment. Dave continues to hit the road during the year, captivating new listeners along the way and working towards another long anticipated studio release.
