AKS @ HOME
As part of Gwinnett County Public Schools’ family engagement initiative, the school district seeks to empower parents with tools that allow them to help their children at home. Our AKS at Home project provides math and language arts resources to support families so that they truly are partners in their children’s learning. This support is available for families to access in the format that fits them and their schedule best. They can attend live virtual meetings, view recorded information at a time that best fits their schedule, or gain tips and suggestions on how to best help their students through tip sheets on a wide variety of topics.
AKS@Home Zoom session dates, previous recordings, and tip sheets for parents of students in Kindergarten through 5th grade are posted on the district’s AKS@Home webpage.
ABOUT THE GEORGIA MILESTONES ASSESSMENTS
Gwinnett County Public Schools will administer the Georgia Milestones End of Grade Assessments to students in grades 3-5 to measure achievement in Reading, Language, Mathematics and Science (Grade 5 only). While the tests measure each individual student’s mastery of the curriculum during the school year, they also help teachers and schools better understand the impact COVID-19 has had on learning and identify what resources and supports our students will need in the coming school year. Testing will be administered over 3 - 5 consecutive days within a grade level testing window depending on your child's grade level. At Annistown, we will administer these assessments as follows:
- 3rd Grade testing window: April 22nd - April 30th
- 4th Grade testing window: May 3rd - 11th
- 5th Grade testing window: May 12th - May 19th
Specific information regarding testing for digital learning students has been made available to those students/parents via email. For in-person students, this information was sent home with students.
If you have any questions/concerns regarding GMAS testing, please contact Diane Simmonds or David Baker at (770) 979-2950.
Annistown Instructional Resources and Materials
Communication will be sent in May regarding the check in process for instructional materials/resources for students. As a reminder, students or their parents/guardians will be responsible for reimbursement to the school for damage to school property, including lost or damaged books or technology equipment. Examples of technology equipment are laptop/Chromebook computers, hotspots, peripherals such as mice and power supplies, audio-visual equipment such as computer monitors, web-camera, and audio headset. Replacement costs for technology equipment and/or books will be shared with parents upon check in of materials/resources.
If you have instructional materials/resources you would like to check in before May, please contact the front office at (770) 979-2950 to schedule a time to check in or return these materials/resources.
