Highlights from the Caroline Board of Education Meeting
Pledge of Allegiance
Board Elects New Officers
In the annual Board reorganization, Kathy Dill was elected president, and Tolbert Rowe was elected vice-president. William McAllister was again elected board attorney.

REPORTS
Board Member & Superintendent Reports
Mr. Newcomb shared that he particularly enjoyed the Lights On Afterschool Program and appreciated everything that Caroline County Recreation and Parks does for students.
Ms. Dill stated that the Veteran's Day celebration at Federalsburg Elementary was especially enjoyable.
Mr. Abner said that he found the ROTC Veteran"s Day event at Colonel Richardson High School was well done and particularly moving to him as a veteran.
Mr. Rowe stated that the new Support Services Center Open House was a great event, and he appreciated the decor that honored the building's past life as the VFW. Mr. Rowe also shared that this would be his last year as a board member as he would not be running for re-elect in 2020.

Student Representative Reports
Isha Sehar, representative from Colonel Richardson High School (CRHS), highlighted the following news in her report:
- Federalsburg Elementary School held a STEAM night that had a variety of activities to showcase for the event including coding dash robots, musical inventions, coding/turtle programming, biomed activity, and CRMS Lego League Creations.
- Preston Elementary School - The PES PBIS and Events Committees will host the PES Holiday Around the World Door Contest. Grade levels and their students will decorate their doors with information and art pertaining to various cultures and their holiday celebrations from around the world.
- Col. Richardson Middle School - On Dec. 14, the CRMS First Lego League Teams will compete at regionals in Salisbury.
- Col. Richardson High School - On Dec. 7, CRHS will host the 2nd annual Alumni Volleyball Game.
Hailey Guack, representative from North Caroline High School (NCHS), highlighted the following news in her report:
- Denton Elementary School is partnering with TREX Plastics to recycle plastic bags and film.
- Greensboro Elementary School conducted over 650 parent-teacher conferences in one week!
- Ridgely Elementary School will be "Decking the Halls" on December 13th.
- Lockerman Middle School 7th and 8th grade Advanced Chorus members performed at the Tidewater Inn for the Festival of Trees.
- Caroline Career and Technology participated in the Denton Rotary / Jaycees Career Fair.
- North Caroline High School seniors participated in on-site admissions with University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Salisbury and Towson Universities.
Finance Report
Bid for Purchase of Locally Baked Breakfast Breads
Beth Brewster, Supervisor of Food Services, shared that local apple cider doughnuts and fruit muffins are being added to our breakfast program. Ms. Brewster was able to emphasize the freshness of the products by districting donuts to the Board and others in attendance.

2019 Holiday Card Artwork Winner
First Lady Yumi Hogan Maryland Students Artwork Exhibition
The Board recognized Makayla Lindorm and Megan Stubbs, both students at Colonel Richardson High School, for their artwork being selected to be on display at First Lady Yumi Hogan Maryland Students Artwork Exhibition at the House of Delegates Gallery.
MAEA BWI Fall 2019 Exhibit
The Board recognized Madelyn Rickwood, Colonel Richardson High School student, for her artwork being selected for the Maryland Art Education Association BWI Airport Fall 2019 Art Exhibit.
