Butternut Creek Elementary
Family Newsletter--Sept. 22, 2021
We are over half way through September in our third week of this school year and our students are demonstrating that they can be responsible, respectful and safe as we return to school with many protocols in place. Students are engaged in classroom community lessons, growth mindset activities, reading, writing, math and so much more. It is a joy to be able to walk into classrooms and see our students being successful and happy. Thank you for ensuring your student comes to school ready to learn and following safety protocols!
Warmest Regards,
Mrs. Gina McLain

Masks Required
- Update as of 9/13/2021: Masks are required outdoors. Students will wear their masks at recess, since we are unable to guarantee at least 6 ft. of social distancing while at recess. ODE Ready Schools Safe Learners guidance states that all individuals 5 years of age and older to wear a face covering outdoors when individuals cannot or do not consistently maintain at least 6 feet of physical distance from people not in their household. Students will be allowed to distance and take mask breaks away from the play structures and crowded play areas as needed.
- In accordance with the Governor’s mask mandate, masks are required indoors for all persons at our schools and district buildings, during and after school hours, regardless of vaccination status. Students may remove their mask while actively eating or drinking.
Please click the following link to learn about HSD Mask Guidance. If your student does not have an appropriate mask, we will give them a mask to use while at school.

Volunteers
We are looking forward to having volunteers in our school this year at some point in time. For the beginning of the year, HSD is in the process of setting up procedures and protocols for volunteering in alignment with guidelines and rules from ODE and the state. Depending on current health and safety guidelines, we hope to welcome volunteers during quarter one. More information to come! This is a great time to be sure that your background check is current. Go to: https://www.hsd.k12.or.us/Page/163 to fill out the volunteer application.
