The Weekly Jr. Oiler
March 20, 2020
Temporary School Closure
I hope that all of you are taking care of yourselves and your families. I miss you and miss coming to Dwyer every day! Although we miss our typical daily routine, it is nice to slow down and appreciate family time at home.
I also encourage you to send pictures of the awesome things you are doing at home. I will post some in the upcoming newsletters and/or to Instagram to keep our sense of community alive. These could be pictures of your family in an activity, you building something, cooking or baking something, a book you just finished, etc. The pictures can also be of you showing GRIT in some way. You can email them to me directly cglembocki@hbcsd.us and please include a small caption.
Your school principals will start!

Weekly GRIT Challenges
It is important that we maintain a growth mindset with learning and character building. As such, we would like to give you some added incentive to complete your daily activities. Each week you will find a link in the newsletter to answer a few questions about what you have accomplished from that week. These questions will encompass academics, emotional well-being, physical fitness, and overall personal growth.
Those students that complete the weekly requirements will be entered into a weekly GRIT raffle for prizes. This will all be based on the honor code. Here are the details:
1. Each week you will be sent a new link
2. Requirements: Students must complete at least three check-boxes from every category
3. On Monday of the following week, we will send a school loop email to all indicating the winner for the previous week.
4. The winner will either receive their prize via mail or upon return to school.
5. Prizes may include, but not limited to the following: GRITstore Items, Starbucks, Barnes and Noble, Movie Tickets, etc.
6. Please follow all state and federal health guidelines upon receiving your prize.
We hope this will be a fun way to help you stay motivated and active in your learning and personal growth.
8th Promotion Updates from the PTSA
We hope you are staying happy, healthy, and engaged with your family. Given the new district return to school date, we are continuing with our plans to celebrate our 8th graders! Please fill out the Promotion Form (see instructions below) as soon as possible so we can move forward with our plans. We understand there is a lot of uncertainty at this time. You can be assured that PTSA is able to refund promotion fees in the event of cancellation, but at this point we are prepared to celebrate our 8th graders in a big way!
Do you have a restless aspiring artist at home? Encourage your son or daughter to submit cover art for the Promotion Program. The promotion theme this year is 2020 Vision! We will also be selecting farewell speakers and a singer for the National Anthem. Now is a great time to prepare these items!
Thank you for helping us make this an unforgettable day for the children
