Mrs. Waddell's Class

Fourth Grade

Back to School!

I was so happy to see the students walk through the door this morning; it's hard to come back from break but I did miss seeing their smiling faces. It was fun to listen to everyone's break stories. I'm looking forward to a fantastic second half of fourth grade!

Hero Writing

As part of this week's homework, students should be working on their Hero writing. I assigned this before the break, and it is due this Friday, January 8th.

There was a Honoring Our Heroes writing contest flyer sent home with this assignment, and it details the instructions and how to enter the PTA writing contest. The contest is optional, but I have asked all students to write about their personal hero. The writing portion is not optional, and I think it will give a great opportunity to sharpen these skills.

Class Dojo

Some of you may be familiar with the behavior management site/app called Class Dojo. Sawnee has decided to pilot this as a school wide behavior plan to help all classes, including specials, be on the same page. I think it will be very beneficial.

Parents can sign up to see the points earned or taken away, and the specific reason. You should have received a Class Dojo email inviting you to see your child's behavior report; it may have gone to a spam file if you do not see it.

The kids and I are getting used to the new system, but I think it will be a positive program, and will keep parents better informed as well.

Attendance Reminder

If your child is absent, tardy, or checked out early from school, please make sure you send a written, emailed, or faxed note within 5 days to attendance clerk.

Absences, early check outs, and late check ins are recorded as unexcused unless proper notification is received by the attendance office.

Parent notes as well as doctor notes can be sent to the address below.
