Letter from the Alumnae Relations Chairwoman

Hello Alumnae!

I hope this newsletter finds you all well. It has been an exciting year and I cannot wait for what the Alpha Pi chapter of Tri Delta has planned for the coming semester. From the upcoming philanthropy event, Bids for Kids, which we hope you all attend, to the wide array of goals we have set for the chapter, Fall 2015 will be a remarkable semester!

I also wanted to take this time to share with you some exciting news about renovations inside our beautiful home! Over the summer NHC sent the lovely housing specialists, Erin Dunn and Susan Beasley, to oversee these renovations. Renovations included modernized furniture throughout the main floor as well as new equipment and flooring for the kitchen. We invite you all to stop by at any time to see the wonderful renovations in our home!

Delta Love,

Carolina Parra

Alpha Pi receives a perfect score!

This past August, our chapter received some great news from the University of Maryland Department of Fraternity and Sorority Life. Kathlyn Carney, our Chapter Expectations Chairwoman, was given this information directly from the University. She said, "with a lot of planning and dedication from Tri Delta to attend very important programs, such as community service, we exceeded the minimum standards of the chapter's expectations, fulfilling 12/12 of the expectations. This hard work resulted in our chapter's status as Recognized with Distinction for the 2015-2016 academic year. This is the first time in a couple of years that we have been recognized with distinction. This upcoming year we hope to win one of the Greek Awards for our improvement and dedication to the University of Maryland community. Kahlin McKeown, the Programming and Advising Coordinator for Panhellenic Association states '...we look forward to the continued success of Tri Delta at Maryland.' We are so proud and cannot wait to see what we can accomplish next!"

St. Jude Give Thanks Walk

On Saturday, September 26, the Alpha Pi chapter of Tri Delta had the opportunity to participate in the annual St. Jude Give Thanks Walk in Baltimore, MD. This family-friendly walk helps raise funds for St. Jude in order to support their mission of no family ever receiving a bill for treatment, travel, housing or food. We had a great turnout on this beautiful Saturday morning as our chapter placed in the Top 5 teams to raise the most money for the walk. This is a great start to our semester and an even better way to get everyone excited for the goals we have set for the coming year!

Looking Forward: Bids For Kids

Our 12th Annual Bids for Kids silent auction is on November 13th from 8-11 p.m. in the comfort of our own home, Tri Delta in 4604 College Avenue. We are all so excited and looking forward to this event. Our philanthropy chairs, Rachel Thomas and Zoe Barnes, along with the dedication of all Alpha Pi members, are working hard to make it the most terrific it has ever been. We extend an invitation to families, friends, coworkers and community members for the event, and we would be honored if our alumni would attend the event as well. We are accepting donations up until the event, any and all donations would be greatly appreciated.

If you have any questions about the event please feel free to email our philanthropy chair at
