What's Going On with OCMEA

Convention Edition

Tips & Tricks for Convention

  • Notify your teachers. Joss e-mailed out a letter to verify where you will be that you can pass along.
  • Plan what you want to attend in advance. Use the Guidebook app or print out a schedule from http://www.omea-ohio.org and highlight what you're interested in.
  • Take a folder or bag to the Convention Center (big purse, backpack) to carry all of the materials you will receive throughout the day.
  • What to bring: Badge, Lanyard, receipt, Photo ID, BW ID, Professional Dress, comfortable shoes.
  • Chip in for parking. $23 a night for valet parking, $10 a day for Parking Garage.

  • Feel free to session hop if there's two happening at once that you'd like to attend, or if your interest isn't held at your current session. This is YOUR experience. Sit in the back in these situations to cause less disruption.
  • Be professional. These are potential employers and future colleagues; you want to dress to impress, and be on your best behavior AT ALL TIMES.
  • Don't attend Joss or Marshall's sessions. You can get that information directly from them.
  • Collect programs and give extras to Dominic at Convention when you see him. If not, hold onto them and bring them back with you.
  • Sit with non-BW people at the Friday Banquet. Grab a buddy or two and mingle! These are future colleagues. Make connections!
  • Don't buy Ukeleles.

  • Check out at noon. If you want to stay for more sessions, you can check out at 3:00pm for an extra cost.
  • Give programs to Dominic so we can create a database of materials for everyone to have.
  • Drive safely!
