Making a difference, one person at a time
November 3rd
Soft skills are defined as: Soft skills are the personal attributes you need to succeed.
A complete list of soft skills can be found here.
I'll ask again, how important are soft skills?
In case you didn't know the Western Middle School has a section on report cards titled, Employability Skills. The point in bringing this up is that I have heard from some parents that this caught them off guard when their child transitioned to the middle school.
For several years our focus has been on educating the whole child. This ultimately means academically, socially and emotionally. With that being said, what are some of the crucial soft skills our students need to develop.
I chose these 5 that I tend to deal with most often from the Principal's Office -
1) Respectful
2) Meets Deadlines
3) Positive Attitude
4) Cooperates with Others
5) Honesty
Elementary school is the perfect time to learn and grow. It's also important to understand that teachers are doing everything they can to help students be the best they can be. When you communicate with your child's teacher, something worth discussing would be your child's soft skills. Most people realize for our students to truly succeed, It Takes A Village to Raise a Child!
