Mooresville Graded School District

District Communications for April 29, 2021

Hello MGSD families!

We hope you have had a fabulous week! Below you will find a conversation with Superintendent Mauney about operating this year during a pandemic and his hopes looking forward for the district. You will also find the latest information about the North Carolina mask mandate, as well as several other bits of information. Saturday is May Day so there is a fun craft for you to do to surprise your neighbors! And, don't forget, we appreciate you being part of MGSD!

EDUVIEW with Superintendent Mauney - APRIL 27, 2021
The state mask mandate for outdoor activities will be lifted on Friday, April 30, at 5:00pm. This means that beginning on Friday after 5:00pm, our students will no longer be required to wear a mask when participating in outdoor activities. In addition, spectators at MGSD outdoor events will not be required to wear a mask. If you feel it is in the best interest for you and/or your child to wear a mask while outdoors, you are welcome to continue to do so.

While the mandate on outdoor activities has been lifted, please make sure your student continues to bring a mask to school to wear while indoors or, if you are attending an MGSD indoor event, please bring your mask. The indoor mask requirement is still in effect by the state at this time. Thank you for your cooperation!

It's May Day on Saturday!

Tradition says that on May 1st, aka May Day, people should anonymously leave a basket of flowers on a neighbor's porch or door. We think these wreaths are the perfect May Day surprise to hang on a door knob. Do you know the best part? You can make them yourself at home!

Final call for Virtual Schooling next year!

If you are the parent of a student who prefers a virtual environment for learning, Friday, April 30, is the deadline for consideration for our fully virtual options for the 2021-2022 school year. Below you will find two links -- one for students who will be in elementary or intermediate school for the 2021 - 2022 school year, and one for students who will be in middle school for the 2021 - 2022 school year. These links will give you information and the ability to enroll your child in the MGSD Online Academy (K-6) or the Virtual Mooresville Middle School (7-8) for the 2021 - 2022 school year. Please read the information carefully as it will be a commitment for the entire year.
