Focusing on What You Can Control
I borrowed this graphic from the author Jon Gordon. It's a great reminder that many things are outside our realm of control right now ...
- The families some of our students have
- How much sleep, nourishment, and attention our students get at night
- The new accountability system from TEA
- The difficulty of the STAAR
- The new Community School configuration and the transition ahead
Those would all be outside of the green circle in the graphic above. The better news is that if we don't focus on those, we're much happier people in general. So let's focus on what we can control:
- Deepening our relationships with kids
- Building even stronger relationships with our coworkers
- Strategic Intervention Planning
- Engaging Lessons
- Anticipating the transition with optimism and excitement
I mentioned in my board report this week how proud I am of y'all and the reaction and attitude you all have demonstrated since Spring Break. Instruction hasn't missed a beat and you are working hard to finish the year strong. Thank you for your commitment to our students and staying focused on the task of this final push before testing.
