POMS Parent Support
Resources and activities for at-home learning
From Ms. Corso, Librarian
Needless to say, I miss seeing your kids in the library very much :(
Librarianship is synonymous with face-to-face interaction and readers' advisory services. It means conversing with students about how they are doing, how school is going, how they are feeling that day/week/month/semester, what they are currently reading, what they might like to read, what their friends are reading, and what they want to see in the library in the future.
Our kids at POMS see the library as a refuge, a safe space, a hangout spot, and hopefully a drama-free zone. Over the past two years since I have come to campus, I have tried to show them that THEY make the library what it is - both in its physical design and the collection throughut the shelves - and that their voice and opinions are important and respected. It has worked wonders and the circulation statistics are proof of that.
I can't wait to see the kids again, but until then I have tried to put as much help and as many activities as possible to aid them in home learning until we get back to normal. Please email me if there is anything you need at home and I will find it for you.
