Register to attend the Community-Wide Conversation Around Race
In our ongoing efforts to ensure equitable access, inclusion, and opportunity for our students, families, and staff, the Beaverton School District is engaging in the first of, hopefully, many community conversations around race. As a valued member of our community we would like to cordially invite you to attend and participate!
On Wednesday, January 29, 2020 from 3:15 to 6:00 p.m., we will be welcoming students, families, staff, and community members from throughout Beaverton and the surrounding region to join us at Southridge High School. The afternoon will include the elevation of student and adult voices from our schools and community partners in two breakout sessions focused on specific topics within the conversation around race. In between those two sessions, we will be listening to students engaging in conversation about the importance of developing and empowering our racial literacy. Please consider joining us for the event, and please share the opportunity with others!
You can learn more about the schedule, the various breakout sessions being offered, and register to attend the event by going to our website.
Southridge High School is located at: 9625 SW 125th Avenue Beaverton, OR 97008
For questions or assistance please call Susan Ouellette at 503-356-4431.
Safety
Staff Supervision begins at 7:45 a.m. on school days. Please drop off students at or after 7:45 a.m.. School begins promptly at 8:00 a.m..
- Driving slowly
- Staying in the pick up/drop off lane to the far right if picking up/dropping off by car
- Parking in a parking space if you are driving but picking up/ dropping off on foot
- Pulling up to allow as many cars in the parking lot as possible
* We are seeing near-accidents. If you are dropping off your child by car, please drop off in the drop off lane, and not the parking lot.*
Student Misbehavior
Beaverton School District publishes a detailed discipline plan in the Student Family Handbook each year. This is the policy guideline that we follow. At the school level, we are ready to implement a range of interventions and consequences depending on the factors outlined in the Student Family Handbook. Our role as educators is not to punish, but to provide the level of support necessary to help each child behave appropriately. For some students, one quick lesson about classroom rules is enough to learn the expected behaviors at school. For other students, it is a daily re-teach and many opportunities to practice.
All staff at Errol Hassell are expected to teach appropriate behaviors. Classroom teachers teach behavior expectations in and out of the classroom. Our paraeducators teach behavior expectations in small groups, in the cafeteria and at recess. Our counselor teaches classroom lessons, facilitates small group discussions focused on needed topics, and meets with individual students for more intensive problem solving. Our student success coach is just that; she coaches students to behave appropriately, and coaches teachers to reflect and refine classroom management.
Ultimately, the goal is to have a school community where we give students grace to make mistakes and the opportunity to learn from them.

Report Cards
Report Cards
The Beaverton School District is transitioning to electronic report cards for all students. This upcoming progress period ending January 24, 2020, will be the last time we will be printing and mailing paper progress reports/report cards. The electronic report cards will be accessed through ParentVUE (mobile and desktop). If you have not set up your ParentVUE account, you will need to do that by January 2020.
There are resources and guidance on how to set up a ParentVue account. Please view the FAQ for instructions on setting up your account.
Please contact our front office if you need help setting up or accessing your ParentVUE account.
