Scott 6th Grade Center
Back to School Edition: August 22, 2022
Welcome to Our New Assistant Principal, Mr. Peter Altland
Dear Scott Middle School Families,
My name is Peter Altland and I will be your Assistant Principal this year. I was born and raised in Coatesville and a proud 2001 graduate from Coatesville Area Senior High School. I have over a decade of teaching experience in the Coatesville and West Chester Area School Districts, and was most recently a Teacher on Special Assignment as an Assistant Principal in two elementary buildings. When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my wife and our two kids. We can be found at the beach, on baseball fields, and in the stream kayaking and fishing.
I am eager to begin working collaboratively with Mrs. Lamothe and her staff. I look forward to getting to know you and working together with your children and their teachers.

Back to School Night
Thu, Aug 25, 2022, 6:00 – 8:00 PM
Scott Middle School, Olive Street, Coatesville, PA, USA
Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
Arrival: Busses will begin to arrive at 7:00 and drop off students. Busses pull onto Olive Street and let students out in front of the school. Students will enter into the auditorium (entrance on the left side- door number 2) where they will wait until 7:15 when they can be let into the hallways to head to our cafeteria for a "Grab and Go" breakfast if they wish or head straight to advisory.
If you plan to drop your student off, you do not need to drop them off until 7:15. You will pull onto Olive Street and let your student out in front of the school. (Please be aware of cars behind you and pull up as far as you can). Announcements start at 7:25, with our school day starting at 7:27.
Dismissal: At 2:08 our dismissal starts. We will begin by sending our walkers out the cafeteria doors at the back of our building onto Stirling Street. They will be immediately followed by our first wave of 8 busses. The busses will be double parked outside of the front of our school on Olive Street. The hope is for the busses to pull away by 2:10, but no later than 2:15.
At 2:15, we will begin our parent pick up. Please do not arrive before 2:15 to allow our busses to fill up and be on their way as quickly as possible. Mrs. Murray will be out front asking you who your student is. To speed up this process, we would love if you could write your student's first and last on a piece of paper that Mrs. Murray will be able to read from your car. We are hoping to have all of our parent pick up completed between the two waves of busses.
Around 2:25 (maybe earlier), the second wave of busses will arrive. They will line up single file on the right side of Olive Street (closest to the school). If parent pickup still needs to continue at this time, we will ask families to stay single file on the left side of Olive Street (closest to the field).
I appreciate your patience as we navigate through these procedures at the beginning of the school year. From experience, it does take a couple weeks to get things running smoothly.
