The Joy of Discovery
This past Tuesday, Author J.Scott Savage visited our campus and gave a presentation to our 3rd-5th grade students about the importance of making a difference in our world by discovering our unique talents and making good use of them. His engaging message and presentation style resonated with many students - so much so, that some even went to his book signing at Barnes & Noble on Thursday night to see the author again and pick up a signed copy of his latest book.
One of the main themes of Mr. Savage's message was that we discover our talents by engaging in a multitude of experiences. It is through these experiences that we learn how our strengths and weaknesses can be uniquely leveraged to position us for success in certain endeavors. He shared how his early childhood challenges with attention have become an asset by leading him down rabbit holes and tangents that enrich his stories and delight his readers. What originally appeared to be a deficit has now become one of his most cherished and useful qualities.
At Wildwood, we continually look for ways to expand our instructional approach and educational programs to provide students with new pathways to discovery. Our newly created STEAM lab and expanded VPA programs are our most recent efforts towards this aim. Outside of school, we encourage you to continually look for ways to expose your children to a broad range of experiences. Take the trip. Join the class. Go see the show. Explore. It is in the joy of discovery that our passions, our purpose, and our unique place in this world are revealed.
On the journey with you,
Mr. Lynch

Wildwood Talent Show
Sign-ups have closed, and Talent Show auditions will take place on February 6 and February 8. We have a record number of students trying out this year, so acts need to be very well prepared in order to be considered for the show.
Please use this LINK if you need to review your scheduled audition date and time.
All music will need to be converted to MP3 files. Here's a YouTube video to guide you in how to do this. All music will need to be emailed to Michelle May at michellemay@conejousd.org in MP3 file format by February 21.

100th Day of School is Wednesday, February 7, 2024
The 100th Day of School is a BIG deal. Students get to celebrate all they have learned over the past 100 days, and it provides an opportunity to reflect on our achievements and gear up for the remainder of the school year. While our youngest learners will have special "100th Day" activities planned to commemorate the milestone, ALL students are invited to dress up as a 100 year-old or wear 100 items to school as a fun way to make the day special and build fond memories of these elementary years.
STEAM Update
Hello Wildwood Families!
This week in STEAM our TK and Kinders explored shapes and working with biodegradable packing “popcorn.” Did you know if you get them a little wet they will stick together?! A fun easy way to use up that packing material!
Our 1st and 2nd graders talked about Hibernation and made their own Hibernation Stations. It is not easy working in a group, but they did awesome!
