Digital Citizenship Day/Day of Service

Wednesday was a super busy busy day at MHS! While Seniors took the SATs, and Juniors and Sophomores took the PSATs, our Freshmen were able to choose to participate in either the Digital Citizenship Day Workshop or to volunteer in the community for a Day of Service. Many Freshmen chose to visit their former elementary schools to assist with recess, lunches, and some were even able to help out in the classrooms. Thank you to all the students who volunteered their time on the Day of Service and to all the schools for hosting them! The Digital Citizenship workshop sessions were run by MHS teachers and staff and included the following informative topics: Digital Footprints, Staying Organized in Google, Stress Management & Mindfulness, Cyberbullying, Fake News, Digital Privacy & Security, and Social Responsibility,

THANK YOU to all who participated and led the sessions!

I wanted to share this message I received from a community member about 4 of our students who participated in a Day of Service:

Dear Principal Cahill,

I participated in a volunteer event today at community servings in Jamaica Plain. In attendance were four of your students. I have to say, these four young men are the perfect example of who you would want representing your school. I do not know their last names but Evan, Liam, Anthony and Abe worked extremely hard, were engaged, attentive and respectful. So often people take the time to only point out the negative. I thought it was important to recognize just the opposite. If there is some way to let them know you received this feedback it would be appreciated.

Thank you to all of our students making Milton Public Schools proud!!

MHS Marching Band

The Milton High Wildcat Marching Band will be traveling to Wakefield this Saturday for our annual competition! Here is a preview of their performance. Good luck Wildcats

Nurse Dismissals

As we head into cold and flu season just a reminder that if a student does not feel well they should request a pass to the health room from the classroom teacher if they become ill. The nurse will determine if the student is to be sent back to class, detained in the health room, or dismissed from school and sent home. If a student is to be sent home, the nurse will call the parent/guardian to discuss how the student will get home.

Athletics!

Congratulations to Ben Catudal, Johnny Gillooly, and Rogan Pater with a 3rd place finish in the Bay State Conference Golf Tournament at Wellesley Country Club! Rogan sunk the first eagle of his career on the 9th hole during the tournament! Best of luck to Ben and Johnny as they move foward to the MIAA D2 North Sectional Championship! Congrats to the entire team on the great finish to their season with the most wins since 2017!

Technology Coffee Hour

It’s often overwhelming being a parent/guardian today in our technology-driven society. Keeping up with the latest trends and dangers can often seem like an impossible task.

On Thursday, October 27th from 9-10AM in the Collicot/Cunningham cafeteria, all MPS families are welcome to join a discussion on how we can keep our students safe in the digital world. Areas of discussion will include managing devices at home, monitoring student devices, finding ways to put devices down, talking to students about privacy…and more! Come share ideas, ask questions, and build a support system to help keep our students safe in the ever changing digital world.

MHS SEPAC-We are currently seeking a new high school rep for the 22-23 school year. The high school rep meets with Principal Karen Cahill virtually once a month and reports monthly to the board.
