Jesmond Public School
Jesmond Journal Term 1 Week 7, 7th March 2023
Principal's Message
Hello Jesmond Public School community,
Thank you to the entire school community for supporting our swimming carnival and Parent Information Night. Both school events were very well represented by students and parents & carers. It was a proud moment for the staff to see so many students participating in the swimming carnival and 'having a go'. It is clear our swimming lessons in 2022 have boasted confidence and swimming ability.

Swimming Carnival
Cross Country
The Cross Country is scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday 8th March 2023. Cross Country will be held at Jesmond Park. All students that are turning 8 this year or older will participate at the Cross country Carnival.
K-2 Cross Country Carnival has been postponed. Further information will be communicated at a later date.

Attendance
Regular attendance at school is essential to assist students to maximise their potential. Schools, in partnership with parents, are responsible for promoting the regular attendance of students.

Year 6 to 7 Transition
Access to the Year 7 online Expression of Interest (EOI) and Placement Not Required (PNR) forms are now available on our school website. Please follow the link below to complete your child's EOI by 31st March 2023. This must be completed for all students in Year 6 moving on to Year 7 next year. If you have any questions, please contact the school office.

1/2A
It’s been a productive start to the year for 1/2A. In English, we have been writing and reading narratives. In maths, the students are exploring patterns, both in shapes and numbers. Each class member has participated in AFL sessions during this term to improve their throwing and catching skills. 1/2A students have shown curiosity and enthusiasm in their learning.

1/2W
1/2RW have settled into the new school year and have had some awesome learning experiences.
We have practised our throwing and catching during AFL time. The students are focusing on writing imaginative stories and creating patterns in mathematics's lessons.
We can’t wait to share more things we will learn in 1/2RW this year.

Have a wonderful week.
Keep up the great work Jesmond Public School!

Office News
New Student Contact, Health & Emergency Care Cards (pink card) and Asthma Action Plans have been sent home earlier this term. Please complete and return to your class teacher or the office as soon as possible.
Where families have more than one student, please complete a separate student contact card for each student.
It is vital that we have up to date information, so we can keep all students safe.
Thank you for your co-operation.
P&C Updates
Partnership between families and staff are key to build up the community of Jesmond Public School. An important part of this work is the ‘P&C’ (Parents and Citizens Association) who meet to discuss school progress and fundraising plans.
On Wednesday 22nd Feb we had our Annual General Meeting, with a last minute change to Zoom after the torrential rain that day. We wish to apologise to those who were ready for an in-person meeting and didn’t know of the change. To keep up-to-date please follow the ‘Jesmond Public School P & C’ on Facebook or speak to anyone on the committee.
A Hot Cross Bun fundraiser has been organised through our local Baker’s Delight store. Complete the order forms sent home with your child/ren, and return it with money by Tuesday 28th March. You may wish to order a few packets of buns and keep them in the freezer to keep fresher for longer.
Students and families will also be able to order drinks and hot cross buns to be given at the Easter Hat Parade on Thursday 6th April. More information will be sent via note home.
Mark your diaries for our next P&C meeting on Wed 29th March, 6pm at the demountable classroom at the top gate.
New members are welcome at any of our meetings to volunteer ideas and time to see the school community grow.
We encourage you to step up and join, even if you’re feeling new to the school, we hope to see you soon!
From Lorelle, on behalf of the P&C.
