Mrs. Birkland's Kindergarten Class

Room 108

We had such a fabulous week. I can't believe we actually accomplished so much in such a little time. It wore us out! Check out below to see all the awesome stuff we did. There are some links and videos that I hope work for you. If not, let me know and I can always send them to you in another format. I hope you all have a wonderful and relaxing break. I will be spending it resting up, cleaning my house, and spending lots of time with family. My grandmother, who helped raise me, was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. :( So, I will be spending time with her and soaking up all the memories I can over the next few weeks and months. Life is precious. Enjoy this break. Take pictures, give hugs, and smile.

This week was all review. We had fun adding two dice and writing the addition sentence, decomposing numbers again using counters, and playing a new friends of 10 game on our iPads.

Here is a quick little video of our fieldtrip fun. Make sure it downloads all the way before you play it. It isn't too fun when it keeps starting and stopping. :)

The Season of Giving-iWeek

What a whirlwind. We had an awesome time giving this week. On Monday, we made elf hats, filled care bags, and colored a special note to put inside the bag. On Tuesday, we practiced reading our opinion pieces to a friend and we made some crafts to give to our older buddies at Ashton Court Nursing Home. On Wednesday we made reindeer hats, jingle bells, and practiced singing our songs. On Thursday we made a card for an active duty soldier. What a week of giving to others. Friday was our big day at Ashton Court. The kids did a great job of caring for the people there and putting smiles on their faces. Check out our link below to see the week in action. :) During the video, you can click on 3 youtube videos that will allow you to see us perform in front of the whole school!

You are more than welcome to download the SeeSaw parent app on your child's iPad. Just put it in the home folder and that way you will be able to see what we are doing at school. We added some great things on there this week, so make sure to check it out.

Check out the fun we had at our winter party on Friday

Odds and Ends

I forgot to send home their extra set of clothes. Many of them are for warmer temps with shorts in the bags. When we come back, can you send in a winter wear pair of extra clothes to keep here? Thanks!

I am also sending home their towel bags. So, make sure to wash them and return them when we get back.

I wonder (things to ask your child at home)

  • What was your favorite room to visit this week?
  • How did you help give to others this week?
  • What did you think of the trip to the nursing home?
  • What are you looking forward to over our break?

Snack and Share

Just a Few Reminders

  • As it is starting to get chilly outside, please dress your child in layers (jacket, short sleeves, etc.) Our rooms are warm and I don't want your child to be too hot inside and cold outside! DON'T FORGET A JACKET/COAT!
  • Please go through your child's backpack every evening to see their accomplishments and charge their iPad!
