8th Grade: We were able to finish the early years of our government under the Presidency of Washington. When the students come back from break, they will have a new teacher, Mrs. Speicher. She will be finishing the school year with them. Circumstances at the school have made it necessary for me to spend more time focusing the my position as the special education teacher. It has been a pleasure working with all the students. Have a Merry Christmas and wonderful break.
MATH
6th Grade: 6th graders will be beginning the year reviewing how to multiply decimals. Next we will learn how to divide decimals and then relate these operations to real life applications. Expect a quiz on multiplying decimals this week.
7th Grade: We ended the year on percentages and we will begin the new year off with algebra! Students will be learning how to solve one and two step equations this module.
8th Grade: We ended the year discussing functions and how to compare and recognize functions from tables and graphs. We will continue our discussion and have a module test at the beginning of next week.
SCIENCE
6th Grade: We will be exploring natural resources and reviewing Earth’s cycles as we begin our second semester. We will also be combining some social studies with science to discuss human-environment interactions.
7th Grade: After the holiday break, 7th graders will continue the journey through the Periodic Table. After that, we will begin investigating living things (cells, genetics, reproduction).
8th Grade: We will be critiquing two climate change disaster movies the first week back: The Day After Tomorrow and 2012. Students did a wonderful job on our Global Warming debate before break!
