Carrillo Community Update

November 27 - December 2

Good Evening Cougar Families!

I hope each and every one of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! It's been a busy quarter so far and hopefully you and your families had time to stop, take a breath, and enjoy each others company. This week is a relatively light week before the hustle and bustle of the end of quarter is upon us. Enjoy it!

Last Week's Highlights

To culminate our focus on Native American Heritage Month, students were given the opportunity to complete a nine square activity to learn about current Native American tribes across the United States. All students who participated were entered into a drawing for a Fall Basket. Congratulations to this cougar for winning and thank you to everyone who participated! We hope you had fun and learned something interesting.

We have an interactive art display in our gallery right now. The First Grade Cougar Town was a collaborative project between Ms. Tautimer, Ms. Ramirez, and Ms. Dal Pra as part of their study of communities. As an added twist, there are a variety of items hidden in the town. Check back regularly, as items move around the city!

Step Up to Middle School

To all parents/guardians of 5th graders – you are invited to our TUSD STEP UP Middle school EXPO! Our TUSD Secondary Expo will be Thursday, Dec 1 from 5:30 PM – 7:30PM at the Tucson Convention Center. This is your opportunity for you and your child to visit all of our TUSD Middle School booths, meet our middle school principals and learn about the middle school programs. You will be able to register your child that night. Our high schools and CTE programs will also be there, in addition to student performances. Please save this date and plan on attending the TCC – there will also be free parking for you.

KIND CAMPUS CHALLENGE - Kindness at Home

Like any developing skill, kindness asks us to commit to practicing regularly, and committing to kindness as a family can provide inspiration, encouragement, and accountability. Ask your students to see if they can fill a room or space (maybe the fridge) with colorful messages representing kindness enacted or witnessed at home! Documenting kindness at home will strengthen the idea that everyone can perform and receive kindness. By committing to kindness, we recognize that our actions contribute to a kinder and more connected community.
