Reflections from Ms. Perkins

WBMS Parents and Guardians –

This year besides increasing our overall focus on reading, we are being intentional about maximizing the growth of every child in every subject. These are the two academic goals on our strategic plan – reading and growth. In our teacher team meetings each week, educators are looking closely at where students are and developing lessons to move all students forward. This instruction will take many forms; sometimes it will be conducted whole class if the entire group needs more work on a skill or standard or small group if different groups of students have varying needs. At times, the teachers on a content team may even create totally different lessons based on student need and then divide up all the students in the content area based on where they need to grow. Students will then have the opportunity to relearn just the material they are struggling with or even be given the chance to dig deeper into advanced concepts if they have already illustrated content mastery. I am excited about the good work that is happening at WBMS! Our students are our focus and we are dedicated to supporting their progress. As always, I hope you have a fabulous weekend with your family and friends.
