Up & Running
In mid-September 30 students began a 6 week training program in preparation for the Unite and Ignite 5K Fun Run. This race is sponsored by our Lawrence Township School Foundation and is open to all of the 4th – 6th grade students in Lawrence Township.
Mrs. Moberg, Mrs. Feldman and Miss Bell were the mentors for the Indian Creek club. Each Monday and Wednesday the running club ran the grounds of the school. This year we even ran in the beautiful outdoor lab. Our students recorded their times each week and we talked about setting goals for the next practice. They worked very hard to improve their times. Running in grass can be a little challenging.
The race was held on October 31st at Lawrence Park. Six hundred runners participated this year. We had 40 Indian Creek students, family members and staff members participate. We had several students finish in the top of their age division. Trevion Wilson, an IC 4th grade student finished 1st in his age group and 16th over-all in the race. Bradley Gillespie, a 6th grade student, finished 10th in his age group and 30th over-all. Lindsy Sanchez finished 1st in her age group and 44th over-all. Other students in the top 50 were James Baily and Josiah Moody. Anna Mauck and Tessa Crowell were also top finishers in their age group. We are so proud of all of the Indian Creek runners for a job well done!
We will begin training again in March for the Geist 5k. The race will be held in May. We look forward to working with our runners again and hope to see some new students join or group.

PLEASE REMEMBER!
If you have changes to your student's dismissal procedures, they must be called into the office prior to 1:30. This will ensure an ample amount of time for the communication to be properly delivered. Also don’t forget that all parent visits with the classroom teacher must be scheduled in advance to avoid interrupting the learning environment. If you would like to schedule a parent teacher conference please contact your classroom teacher directly or call the main office at 964-4400. Thank you!
Parent Information and Resource Center
Did you know that there is a Parent Information and Resource Center in our area? The Indiana Partnerships Center located at 911 E. 86th Street, Suite 110 works to empower parents about their rights and responsibilities pertaining to their children’s education in the following ways:
- Providing parent-focused workshops that are scheduled by schools, community groups, or parent groups.
- Providing education-related information and resource materials, including information about school choice, attendance, tips for parents and teachers talking together, and how to have a family friendly school.
- Helping schools develop parent engagement strategies that provide opportunities for parents to become decision-makers in their children's school, resources for school improvement, and mentors to others.
Contact them at 317-205-2595 or on the web at www.fscp.org for more information on how you can become involved!
