BHS College and Career Fair
BHS students and parents,
The Belton High School College and Career Fair is scheduled for this Wednesday, September 27, from 9:00am - 10:30am in the BHS Fieldhouse. Seniors will be attending the fair from approximately 9:15am - 9:45am and juniors will attend from approximately 9:55am - 10:25am. Parents are welcome to attend and must sign in at the BHS Front Office upon arrival.
Students have been asked to review this general fair information prior to attending:
College and Career Fair information
There will be over 60 representatives from colleges, trade schools, businesses and the military attending. During the College and Career Fair, students are given the opportunity to speak with representatives about all aspects of the post-secondary education process, employment potential, and military service. Students will be able to browse tables offering information on academic and career options, college and university admissions requirements and financial aid options. This is a great chance to get answers to specific questions about potential colleges and careers, learn about new schools and get a sense for what might fit you. The list of representatives attending can be found here.
Additional College and Career planning information can be found on the BHS Counseling website:
Students attending the fair need to sign up with Strive Fair:
Students: Go to www.strivefair.com and register so you can easily provide your information to the colleges you meet at the fair. When you register, you get a barcode that colleges can scan at the fair to get your information. The colleges you're interested in will start sharing information about their school, the application process, financial aid, and important deadlines.
Step 1:
Go to www.StriveFair.com and fill out the form to get a barcode.
StriveFair will send you a reminder with your barcode again two hours before the fair.
Step 2:
At the fair, show this barcode to colleges. They'll scan it and get your information.
After the Fair:
The next day, you'll get a report with information about all of the colleges that scanned you. You'll also start receiving information directly from the colleges.
Please contact the BHS Counseling office with any questions.
IMPORTANT MESSAGE ABOUT GRADES
Stay Up-to-Date with Your Students' Grades
Now that we are 4 weeks into the school year, we want to make sure all parents know how to view grades in both PowerSchool and Canvas. For real-time grades, go to Canvas. Note: PowerSchool grades are updated overnight, so they are most accurate in the morning.
See the chart better understand what you can view in each system.
If you are not a Canvas Observer, see this flier to show you how to get access to this awesome tool: Become a Canvas Observer (English), Conviértete en un Observador en Canvas (Español)

Parking Notice for Parents
Greeting Students & Parents,
We are happy to report that registration, payment, and pick-up for parking passes for students have gone relatively smoothly over the first couple of school days, despite all of the adjustments that have been made over the last two weeks. Nearly 250 students and parents have completed registration! Thank you!
The obstacles we encountered during and following enrollment, in regard to PowerSchool and MySchoolBucks have been overcome, and we are working quickly to assist families in this process. The one obstacle we continue to face is having the student's name documented somewhere within the insurance policy, whether that is on the insurance card or found on the declarations page. It is the policy of the school and district that the student's name appears in one of these places. If that is missing, we cannot give them a pass. Oftentimes, that is a quick and easy process with your insurance provider, and we are happy to work with you to solve this problem.
Remember that if you have not completed the registration process, it is vitally important to do so before next week. For the remainder of the week, students are able to park freely in the lots west of the building with no consequence. However, starting Tuesday, September 5th, all parking and driving guidelines and policies will take effect - that includes having their vehicle registered with the school, payment of the $40 fee, and the retrieval of the parking placard. Additionally, students are required to park in their assigned spots, along with all other guidelines outlined in the BHS Driving/Parking Contract. If a student is in violation of any of these guidelines, they will receive a warning and/or fine.
Lastly, I want to remind parents that if their student rides with a student-driver, they must complete the Passenger Permission Form.
For any questions regarding student parking/driving on campus, please feel free to email Michael Aleto at maleto@bsd124.org or call at (816) 489-7522.
