Halloween Changes

Dear Families,

I would like to share with you the changes we are making to our Halloween and Fall Celebrations!

1. Instead of a Halloween Carnival we will have a Fall festival Dance on Friday, October 26 at 6pm.

2. This event is cosponsored by the ELAC and PTO

3. Music, food, games and FUN!!

4. October 31, students can wear their costumes to school or pajamas. We will have a parade at 12:15.

5. No blood, masks or scary costumes on October 31. We have little ones on campus and they get scared.

We are trying a few new things to help celebrate the fall and include everyone!!!

Great Start to the School Year!

Hello EV Families,

Thank you all for such a great start to the school year. We are so excited to have your children here with us everyday. They are learning and growing! Everyday is a new learning opportunity. Students and teachers are working hard to be amazing learners and scholars!

EV is a Columbia University, New York, lab site school. This means that teachers will receive several days of professional development to help them be the best teachers they can be!

We have had many accomplishments so far this year:

-Grade Level Teams meeting to discuss student placement for Focus Learning and ELD

-Intervention is ready to go! We will be serving close to 50 students in the first session

-Students are coming better prepared for Readers and Writers. Their stamina and knowledge of the work is evident. THANK YOU!!

-K-1 has a new phonics program

-Teachers College will be on site this year

-The Restructuring Team is including Social Emotional work this year

-Successful EV BBQs times two!

-Classrooms look amazing!

-Kids are happy

-ELAC met and identified areas of focus: student inclusion and diversity and reclassification are top priorities

-PTO provided staff with a warm welcome.

-Families are receiving mental health services through the FRC

-ViVO has been playing in the community at a variety of events

-Preschool is full and there is a waiting list. Sonya will be incorporating some Readers work into preschool

-ArtEscape is planning on helping with our bathroom transformation

-Max and Martin are keeping the school bright and shiny

Please join us for some of our upcoming events. See the calendar below for information about how you can participate.
