Staff Appreciation for the holidays
Do you want to give your child’s teachers and support staff a little something for the holidays but have no idea what they’d like? Problem solved!
This year we have again asked staff members at Adams to let us know a bit about themselves and what they want! So if you’d like to say thank you this holiday season, consider checking out the staff surveys that have been completed at https://drive.google.com/open?id=10GLmBr4TlQB9-66GMr1qLVttZBQ_C6VS .

After a quick warm up, students traveled through 8 stations that involved rolling, sprinting, jumping, weaving, hopping, crawling, quick steps, swinging, climbing, and balancing. In this second week of "Look For The Good," we did cooperative exercises and games with the parachute during the second half of class.

Students had a broccoli tasting table during Wednesday's lunch.

Admission into a club is not based on a first come, first served system. Space is limited and preference will be given to students who have not had the opportunity to participate in a club before. Please only sign your student up for a club he/she is truly interested in. We will try to keep siblings together if requested but students may not get into their first choice.
Sign up sheets with more information will be in the lobby starting on Monday!
OBOB
Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB) at Adams is seeking volunteers to assist in the OBOB battles by acting as a battle 'Moderator'. OBOB volunteer moderators will guide the students through the process of a battle by reading the questions, checking for correct answers, and scoring points. Moderators are invited to attend an 1-hr training in early January. OBOB practice and actual battles run for 5 weeks starting mid-January until mid-February. Volunteer Moderators will choose which day(s) of the week that they will attend battles. Battles are at morning recess, so Moderators should expect to spend about 40 minutes a week (9:35 - 10:15am). Please visit this link to volunteer: https://signup.com/go/zYZZLzc
Questions are welcome, Lindsey Swenson, Adams OBOB Moderator Coordinator - lindseybswensen@yahoo.com.
Library news
Sometimes we get some unanticipated donations to our school library so thank you for thinking of us! To be able to include the book on the library shelves, we examine each donation for condition, positive reviews in professional library journals, and the current needs of the collection. We so appreciate your help building our collection with recently-published, new, like-new, or very gently used books geared for the age-group of our school. If we can't use your donation in the library, we'll try to find it a good home by: giving it to a student to keep, seeing if it can be included in classroom libraries, or by donating it to the Friends of the CBC Public Library. Recycling will be our very last resort.
As many of you have asked, some popular titles we are always looking to update our collection are: Dogman (Graphic Novel), Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Pokemon books and princess/unicorns quick reads.
Volunteer training
Interested in Volunteering at Adams?
Please contact echo.rue@corvallis.k12.or.us and attend a monthly training.
We will cover how to use the copier and laminating machine and general school information and then if you are interested you can also have a library orientation and training if you would like to help in the library too. The next volunteer trainings will be held on Monday Jan 27th and Monday Feb 24th from 12:30-1:00. Please meet in the office and have completed the online volunteer application with background check online prior to volunteering (available on the school website).
ALL VOLUNTEERS- SAVE THE DATE! In this season of gratitude, we are planning ahead to hold a Volunteer Appreciation Event Wednesday May 13th from 7:30-8:30am. A short program will begin at 7:30 until the first bell. Then we will continue with a coffee social until 8:30 in the Library. We love our Volunteers at Adams!
