- Thank you for eveyone that has been working to improve and butify CHS this summer. You will see a lot of changes to CHS as we start this new year including:

Stadium Complex Improvements
All-weather turf field
Seismic and safety improvements to the stadium
Parking and sidewalk improvements
Upgrades to the public restrooms and team rooms
Bus parking relocation
Track resurfacing (bond funded)
CHS Cafeteria Improvements to make the new CHS Eagle Nest
All CHS Halways and many of the classrooms were painted
A new bathroom is being built, and existing bathrooms were repaired and beautified
CHS Parking lot repainted
Deep cleaning all over the school
New intercom system
New security upgrades
Many Other upgrades
- Thank you to everyone who supported the start of our Fall Sports season on Tuesday. We have a great turnout of student-athletes and are off to an exciting start for of the Fall Athletic season. However, there are still a few spots left on different CHS teams. So if you are interested in a Fall Sport, contact our CHS Athletic Director at daunte_gouge@csd28j.org.
Great Job to our CHS ASB/Student Council, who spent this week planning our upcoming events and activities such as Freshman Orientation, Welcome Back Assembly, and Homecoming and they work to continue to bring back more of our old and create new CHS traditions to continue growing our CHS School Spirit. They are working hard and are always interested in hearing your thoughts and ideas and would love your help. If you want to find out more, contact our Activities Director at charles_self@csd28j.org.
We had an outstanding Fall Sports Parent Night. It was great to see so many of our CHS parents and families supporting our student-athletes. We also learned about the Hilinski's Hope Foundation. You can check out www.hilinskishope.org. So, Thank you to everyone who made our Fall Sports Parent Night a huge success!
Thank you to our CHS Booster Club, who volunteered to prepare the CHS concession stands for this school year and have been supporting our CHS athletic program. All CHS Booster Club hard work is appreciated! They are always looking for volunteers and fundraising opportunities to support our CHS student athletics. So if you would like to find out more information, please email centennialhs.boosterclub@gmail.com. Their next meeting is Tuesday, September 18th - CHS Booster Club Meeting @ 7 PM in the CHS Library.
Talking about great turnouts. Thank you to everyone who supports our CHS Football Watermelon Bowl today. It was great to feel our Eagle spirit coming alive; thanks to everyone being there!
Finally, thank you to everyone who made Freshmen Orientation a huge success. We had one of the best turnouts of our incoming 9th-grade students in years. it was a great introductory experience for our new 9th-grade students.
Make sure you have reviewed the CHS Student Handbook 2023-2024 for any questions.
Remember, "Once an Eagle, Always an Eagle" at CHS!

CHS Counselor's Corner:
Massage from CHS Counselors:
Schedule change requests have been processed and closed for Trimester One. Coming back to school in the fall can be stressful, and your CHS counselors are here for you. We also know that not everybody has had a good and restful summer. Reach out to us if you need some support or just a quiet space to be for a moment.
Schedule change requests have been processed and closed for Trimester One. Students will be able to address Trimester 2 and 3 scheduling concerns later in the year. The only Trimester One concerns that can be addressed in the next few weeks will be:
- Junior or senior needs a dismissal for emergency/work needs
- Student needs a level change in an academic subject (when supported by the teacher and parent/guardian)
- Schedule errors
- Student wants to add a CVA (online) class
- Senior needs a graduation requirement
Students will be able to discuss the above concerns with their counselor by emailing or calling them, or coming to the counseling office before or after school or during their lunch.
See you soon!
Reminders:
ParentSquare fro CSD Communication Starting this year- We heard feedback focused on the effort to navigate multiple communication channels for your student(s). We are pleased to inform you we have addressed this communication concern thanks to our new Centennial School District Communications vendor partnership with ParentSquare and their website platform SmartSites - a streamlined parent communication platform.
ParentSquare will replace BlackBoard Communications, School Messenger, Class Dojo and many other channels through which you may previously have received information. The platform is also set to replace Remind which is scheduled to sunset in November 2023.
ParentSquare offers greater parent/guardian involvement, more robust engagement features, an app for mobile users, two-way language translation, and more! Best of all, the platform syncs with our current Student Information System (SIS) and is preloaded with student contact information.

Centennial High School Cell Phone Procedures 2023-2024 - It is our Centennial High School Mission that each of our students will demonstrate high academic standards in an equitable, supportive school culture and graduate college and career-ready. So, we are committed to our students learning in a safe and supportive environment by supporting our students to be fully engaged in learning and keeping our halls and public spaces device-free during class time. Because Cell phones and other electronic devices distract from our mission and have also led to students feeling unsafe, cyber-bullying, student tardiness, off-task behavior, and peer conflict. So, for the 2023-2024 school year, the use of cellphones, headphones/wireless headphones, and other personal devices is not allowed in classrooms, restrooms, and school offices during class time/Instructional time, unless otherwise documented in a student support plan for this coming school year. This policy includes bathroom breaks during instructional time. Students are permitted to use cell phones, headphones, and personal devices during the following times:
Before school, during lunch, and after school
During after-school activities/sports (with permission)
At evening or weekend activities
Every Wednesday is a Late Start day. So on Wednesday, Main and South Entrance doors open at 8:35 AM for students to go to the cafeteria for breakfast. Students are not allowed in the hallways until 8:55 AM at which time the hallways doors will be opened. The warning bell is at 9:05 AM. School starts at 9:10 AM. At 9:15 AM, the South Entrance closes, and everyone will need to enter through the main entrance.
School ends at 3:10 PM, and remember, every minute of learning counts.
