Morning Message
Today's Morning Message:
A mosquito is little. A frog is bigger.
- Say the words in the morning message, tapping your knees for each word. Count the words. Have children count the words.
- Write the sentence. Point to each word each word as you read it Encourage children to say the words.
- Discuss with your child that words put together make a sentence. How many words are in your sentence?
- Begin talking about Syllable clap and count the syllables in mosquito (3 claps) mo-squi-to. Pick other words and clap the parts of them.

The Song of the Teeny Tiny Mosquito
- Pg. 3 What happened to the Mosquito. Discuss who ate the mosquito and that frogs eat insects.
- Pg 4. Have your child predict what will happen next. Do this for each new animal.
- At the end of the story discuss the sequence of the story. List the animals by size starting with the smallest.
Literacy

Letter sort:
Choose 2-3 letters from the letters of the week.
Collect several things that start with the same sound for the letters you choose.
Have your child sort the items by the beginning sounds.
Syllables: Use some of the items that you gathered for the letter sort and clap how many word parts that item has.
Daily Literacy Practice
- writing your name
- putting together name puzzle
- practice saying the letters and sounds of the letters in your name when someone points to the letters in random order
- Review flashcards for letters that you have already covered from previous weeks.
- Add this weeks letters to flashcards Make one that is the uppercase letter and one that is the lowercase letter. Review these letters each day.
- Find things in your house that start with each letter we have studied.
